We had a fun night doing some water work with Rumor and Tucson. We are going to try and run them both at some point in UKC HRC started and also in AKC retriever tests but also getting them ready for waterfowl season in the fall.

Rumor and her first intro to having decoys on the water. She could have cared less:

Looks like fun! My hubby doesn't do any water fowl hunting, but anything involving the water and dogs who love it looks like great fun to me!

So far our biggest challenge with the GSP with waterfowl is the fact they don't like to sit still. The pure EXCITEMENT they get over birds is almost too much for them to handle! LOL But they are getting better with it. Tucson now has his own dog blind that the hubby has been working with him on and he is getting pretty good with that. But man you shoot off the starter pistol and he is all over looking for bids. So we are also working on him staying in the blind til told to fetch up the bird. I haven't started that part of things with Rumor yet but she is almost a year younger than him too.

Awesome, bet you're stoked. I can't wait for duck season. Your dogs seem to take to water like otters.

The worst day of hunting is better than the best day at work.

Nice pics! I am jealous as our dogs....Windsor never had training and just wants to kill anything that moves.
Both rescue dogs and are full of quirks but I love them.

Oh they kill plenty of ducks during out training days. Tucson not so much. Rumor and Cody do though. Still working on that part. LOL. But that is why we raise our own. Much cheaper than buying them from a breeder.

The hubby is a much more avid waterfowl hunter than I. I love going out in early season when it is in the 40's. Once below that I say you go ahead and get up at the butt crack of dawn and freeze your butt off. LOL

And yes our dogs do take to water like otters. It is awesome having our own pond as well to be able to work water whenever we want to as well.

The pink collar is through Ezydog.com and if you want a 10% discount with them just use the code: FLYNHIGH

And yes they are always happy to get in the water!

*******Dumb-ass Alert********

Was just about to comment on how calm the remaining ducks are

Then i went back and re-read the post   Your pics are great and have given me the push to contact an hpr club to see if they'd allow Keely and i to watch at some point soon, although we are doing basic water retrieve with dummy and whistle at the moment.
