hey guys....bullet is now, what...about 22 weeks or so...and he's been getting re-occuring staph infections. it only happens when i romp him in wet conditions/dirty areas such as tall grass fields after a rain. these annoying little zits don't seem to bother him a single bit, and the vet tells me its a puppy thing. have any of you guys had this problem with your GSP's? vet says he'll grow out of it...i'm hoping he does, because it's getting extremely annoying bathing him after every long run, and then doing the vitamin e treatment on him.

My oldest who is now almost 9 used to get staph skin infections when she was younger. For her it was a food allergy. She is allergic to beef. The vets never figured it out. I did and once I changed her to a chicken diet her skin infections cleared up.

Luna had the exact same thing last year as a pup mostly between the ages of 4 months - 9 months of age. It would always happen after she'd be running around in this tall grassy dewy field, and eventually get these little pimple like zits on her skin in the belly and armpit areas. She was treated several times with meds for it that the vet put her on and then later I was recommended by research I did to try and use a shampoo called KetoChlor http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=9641
I'd use this to bath her after the park and it really seemed to cut down on this happening. It doesn't require a prescription and can really be used as often as you need. We haven't used it in probably 6 months at this time and haven't had any issues since, but we always keep it on hand in case. Maybe worth giving it a try and hoping he too outgrows it :)

sorry I meant to say that you DO need a prescription for it, but our vet didn't hesitate to write it and try it out if it works!
