I know I just posted the pics of her weekend, but I got my movie maker working right today and made a little video.

This video is awesome! The rookie dock jumping is impressive to me, joey is too scared to even try! GSPs are a good reason to purchase a lake house right? I feel like the swimming and the cuddling on the boat alone trump any reasons not too! Joey does the SAME THING with my fiance under a towel on the boat after swimming. The handle on the life jacket helps to get the doggie back in the boat. lol. Looks like a ton of fun.

We went camping on a boat access only island this weekend on Lake George that doesn't allow dogs :( so her gramma was watching her. It would have been perfect for her because she would have had a blast and we wouldn't even have had to worry about her running off ..instead we couldn't stop thinking we were letting her down. But, We have a 10 day boat camping trip planned for mid august and she is coming that time! I'll be sure to post pics. Next summer I have to find a nice island site that allows dogs, there are some in upstate NY.

Thanks Everyone, she's a cutie. Bored out of her whits right now because it's raining...but just laid on the floor to chew her antler with a BIG sigh of protest. Gotta love them.

@Kpwlee - Couldn't have said it better myself lol. She is one happy, sweet, and good "crazy" gal.

@mjbuck - Showing off? She has NOOOOO idea what that is ;) (Sarcasm noted?) She's got a ways to go yet, but at least she loves it.

@ Joeybean - I think it would be torture to be somewhere like that without the pup (well yea, I sure wouldn't turn down the torture...but still lol). When we were in Georgia there was a lot of little islands on the lake we visited and I thought how perfect that would be for a day or night or weekend with the dog.

Fantastic!!  What a beautiful and well trained dog!   How old is she?  I want to teach my dogs to be this well behaved and attentive!  AMAZING!    How did you get this video up here?  I've tried to follow directions of the posting page, and I can't get anything to work.  I know how to do movie maker, and upload to YouTube all the time.  Did you post this from youtube?  If so, HOW?   I would love to share as well.  I LOVE THESE GSP's spirits!!   So willing to work, and play, and cuddle.......and over and over again!

Hi gsplover! Glad you figured it out. Once I upload to Youtube I just copy and paste in the "embedded" link. It's already in html and ready to go.

Bella will be a year old in less than two weeks. She is a very sweet girl. Don't let her videos fool you, she has her GSP ADD moments, but we couldn't be any happier with her, her spirit and personality, and how easy she has been to train because she wants to please and is SO very smart. With consistency and patience, I have NO doubt your good looking pups would be the same :)

You've got a great looking dog in Bella and I love seeing the videos of her! I'm new to this forum and just got my first GSP about 3 months ago. She is now almost 5 months old, and I was wondering how do you teach her to dock jump and also was watching another video of her jumping. What do you do to get her to want to do these things?

Hi Trasmuson! Welcome, and congrats on your new addition! There are several others on this site who actually compete in jumping and could probably provide you great pointers (pun intended lol)... I can only speak for what worked for us, and she clearly jumps for fun and not for distance lol :) Bella has LOVED water from day one, so that is the first thing you'll need (a pup that loves or will at least entertain the idea of water and swimming). It took just a few minutes to graduate from playing in water, to feeling confident swimming (it's alarming to them the first initial feeling of not having their feet touch). Take your time with this step, because if rushed I think they could grow some reservations about deeper water. The video of her to the song "Wipeout" was pretty much the first day she "swam" as opposed to just splashing around in water about tummy deep.

As far as graduating to jumping, we taught her to jump for things out of water. But with a young pup be mindful they are still developing and don't require too high of jumps or jumps that are straight up (that often result in a wrong landing and loosing footing). Then I began having her jump from land for something that would result with her landing in water so she could get used to the feel of a splash and going under. A beach or bank by water that drops off into water works well. It may not be the best of approaches, but with her first run to the end of the dock, since I could tell she was clearly wanting to jump and thinking of jumping...I gave her the tiniest of nudges from behind while saying "Jump" (she knows this word)....and once the first jump occurred it was downhill from there. She just needed to see it was doable And then I threw her a praise party for doing so, which made her all the more PUMPED to jump again, and again, and again...

Whatever you do or teach...just make sure you make it fun! A dog will do most anything they find fun and realize it also pleases you! :)

Both of mine still have ADD moments....95% of the time!   They are CRAZY, but such a joy to be with.  I don't know about you, but I think if I had the time and the money, and the land, I would love to have about 10 GSP's!  Lol!  I just love their personalities! They are curious, funny, cuddly, all different colors, sizes, shapes, etc!  They love to please, and they are super smart!   They are a bit stubborn......that's part of being smart!

Thanks. Sort of reminds me I haven't made one in a while. Guess now that she's all grown up, I keep the camera more at bay and just enjoy her lol. Oh, who am I kidding...I don't really keep the camera too much at bay, I just haven't video'd her in a while  I had hoped to make a "first year" video that compiled all of her experiences, antics, and things she has learned...but I just haven't gotten around to it.
