Greetings all,

I am new to the group and have a couple questions.

My family and I just added a very energetic, high drive, lovable 5 month old GSP. His name is Jaxon (jax for short) and he came with papers to register with AKC.

I have never owned a dog with papers and I am woundering just how important it is to register my boy, do I gain any benefit from doing so??

We had Jax fixed and chipped, brought up to date on shots and is getting along great with the rest of the tribe, (3 yr old Brittney Beagle and 2yr old miniture Schnauzer, plus a couple cats).

I was also woundering what everyone does for flea/tick/heartworm protection. I want to put all 3 dogs on the same regiment. All 3 dogs will be elligable for 3 yr rabies in a year and want to keep all on the same schedule if possible.

I am open to any suggestions one might have for taking care of this pup. I do not plan to hunt him but do plan on spending plenty of time on our 10 achers in northern lower Michigan.
