Hi Ang,
These dogs easily find thier way into our souls and make the best companions. You asked if getting a dog from a back yard breeder or a rescue would make your chances better the next go around. I got my last GSP from a very good long time breeder . She got an agressive colon cancer at age eight and survivved it just with surgery. Then got thyroid and had to have eye surgery when she was 12. I called her my 10,000 dollar dog. and I had no insurance.
Ask me if Im scared and wondering if I should get insurance.or if Ill lose her to something like what you went through.
Sheena died age 14 two hours after I picked her up from being borded while I was in the hospital for an agressive cancer. After being turned down by a rescue for a puppy a year and a half later and numerous people telling me Not to get a puppy I got one.
Its the best thing I have ever done .I got my last one at age 4 months. I really missed out. I was afraid I would not get a personality plus GSP like My last girl. I have gotten lucky so far. my life is topsy turvey but thats okay.
Its been 2.5 years and I never took her crate down. and i feel a little guilty about enjoying Hanna . Theres no words I can say to make it better . Just let the tears fall.
Cyber hugs from Hannas other half
