Do yours sit like this?
I actually had a friend ask me if I taught him that.

| Crossing paws at a down stay is awesome Mit. Only a chosen few dogs will do that and you have one GSP that does. Lucky for both of you. Enjoy!!! |

All of our GSp's have crossed their legs when they lay down.
They also cross their eyes when they look at you |

I buy Spot's toys at the goodwill too. I clip off the plastic eyes. It doesn't take him long to rip them to shreds. Spot's two best friends are Bearded Collies and they do learn from each other. Now the Beardies eviscerate their toys just like Spot does and they had never done that before. And best of all is Spot trying to herd sheep like they do. It's hilarious. He herds like a Border Collie and just creeps towards them.....tail just wiggling. He loves it but my friend with the Beardies and the sheep says it's just wrong. I keep trying to tell her Spot could herd with a little practice.
GSP's are pretty smart and all purpose too. |

When Beau knows I am about to leave, he will follow me around and look to see what i'm looking for. Keys, wallet, socks, and he will grab it right before you do. Luckily hes got a pretty soft mouth and doesn't damage anything much. He carried a rolled poster for college around for about 5 minutes.... Trust me its a lot easier to explain a wet spot than the old "my dog ate my homework" excuse. He likes to run circles to. If you bring a leash into the back yard, he runs out and starts running big circles around the yard. |

That picture is too cute! Jackson has crossed his legs before when lying down on the couch, but it is not something he usually does. My chihuahua on the otherhand would not chose to lay any other way. He always sits with paws crossed. I liked the bit about dogs learning from each other. My once prissy chi is now chasing squirrels and acting GSP like outside. It cracks me up to see him get dirty now.
Jackson will keep trying new toys if you refuse to play with the one he first brought you. He will go through all the toys before finally giving up and chilling out by himself.
These are great posts....It seems GSPs are OCD about certain things!! Mine has to sleep with his fav toy under his paw or in his mouth...I love the GSP who counts his toys! lol!! Sometimes he covers his eyes when he sleeps with one paw I have a pic of this in the Sacked out page. When he was a younger puppy he used to bring all his toys into the papasan one by one...then he would climb up and sit with them...I happened to have a picture of this...It was quiet a routine-

Jackson will also steal toys at the dog park and bolt off! it is so funny how much all these dogs have in common!!!
Marie I highly doubt your Rocky is boring! NOthing wrong with liking the WI cheese! Have you let him try cheese curds yet ?
I also realized something else... when i am on the floor doing something Jackson has to come and lean all of his body weight on me. I am not sure why, but it cracks me up. Sometimes he also likes to sit in my lap and tries to curl up like a small dog. He also seems to love being on his back more than any other dog I have known. |

Our GSPs all cross their paws while laying down. But the coolest thing is, Gracie will take a tennis ball and set it on top of her paw while laying down and stare at it until you try and grab it. |

Bedburg...that is neat.... do they supply the grapes/diff varieties and you mix it? Where did the grapes come from? That sounds neat! I love reds...not as into whites. Shiraz merolt sounds yummy!! I wil shoot you a message! We just had some really nice reds with our valentine's dinner last night....wine is the one drink jackson seems to have no interest in... |

| Spencer always falls asleep inside at night and when we go to bed we take him out to the laundry. As soon as he realizes it's bed time, even if he was awake seconds before, he suddenly pretends he's in a deep sleep. It's so funny, he'll open his eyes but never move his body - like if he stays completely still we'll think he's asleep. And he pushes his whole body weight to the back of the lounge and goes limp so we can't pick him up. So funny... |

When stud and Hunter are happy they will grab a toy and prance around and say arrooooo! Over and over! Hunter likes to steal dryer sheets, bring them in the living room and roll all over them. He does this on carpet fresh too. I wish that's all he would roll on! LMAO!! Belle will get on her back and wiggle all the way across the living room. Doddi likes to sit up like a human. She will sit cack on her tail and pop up next to you like a gopher. She is so funny! They all spin when excited. When Hunter and stud were puppies, I would come home and let them out and they were so happy they would pee all over my shoes. You could see little tinkle marks all around me on the deck! |

My two girls will both lay with their paws crossed. My youngest also sits and puts one foot forward. I call it the princess paw. She even knows what that means now when I ask her where the princess paw is she puts it out. My oldest likes to shake hands. We call that the "Howdy doody Miss Belle." Her name is Belle. Halo also likes to eviserate her stuffed animals. She pulls out the stuffing and then I pick it up and restuff the animal and later she unstuffs it again. It's a game. Halo also has stuffed puppies that I get at PetSmart. They have squeakers in all the legs and the tail. I got her one as her first toy when she was 8 weeks. It was bigger than her at the time. She carried that dog around for 2 years before she ever started unstuffing it. Once she found out how to get to the squeakers and the unstuffing part. The rest is history. I have several spares though as that is her favorite toy.
Belle never liked stuffed toys much even though she eviscerated a chair and a throw pillow when she was pup. Her favorite is the huge "dinosaur" bones. They are actually cow bones that are smoked, but they look like a dinosaur bone. She will get that bone and carry it around for awhile, taunting Halo with it. Halo could care less. It is so funny because the bone is so big and she is soooo proud of it. Eventually, she will settle down and chew on it for hours. It takes her weeks to really do any damage and she demolishes other toys is minutes.
Love this thread as I read some many things that my girls do too. Shorthairs seem to have a personality all their own in the dog world. That is why I love them sooooo much.

Jodi, I have noticed that my Rat Terrier tries to act like my GSP more and more. He just doesn't realize that he will never be able to keep up with them. Also, if I'm sitting on the ground for something Kerney comes up and puts ALL of her weight on me. She does this to my boyfriend if he is sitting on the couch. She just walks up and leans as hard as she can on his leg. My GSP's can't have stuffed toys anymore. Everyone they have had they have destroyed!! All I find is the stuffing and an empty shell. They have ropes and a tire to play with now. Any ideas on a few stuffed toys that maybe they can't shred? |

If anyone finds a GSP proof toy, speak up! I pick up stuffing every day. Now I go to goodwill and buy them by the sack. I cut out the eyes so they can't be swallowed. I bought an indestructible toy from Campmor. It didn't even last one evening. Spot had it in pieces pronto.

All of my dogs old toys had the eyes stitched shut. Along with all the first holes they put in the toy. Eventually there was nothing left to sew. |

| All that is left after a while is a skin of the poor animal. Mine rip the stuffing out to get to the squeekers and throw it and flip it until the pop the noisy thing. |
