That is funny...so many of these quirks are similar!  Jackon does that too if i reall make him sit and stay for a treat.  The longer he waits... the longer the drool.  It can get pretty close to the ground if I make himstay long enough.

Both my dogs are lotion lickers, it is quite amusing to see them trying to sneak in a lick when I put lotion on my feet in the morning! They will even steal the lotion bottle if I don't put it away.

They both love fruit of all kinds, but their favorite is clementines. Daniel will peel his if I don't do it for him - he actually does a better job than I do!

They are both slipper stealers, too. They never, ever touch any shoes, even tasty leather ones, but the second I take my foot out of a slipper it is stolen away by a proudly prancing puppy.

Bo likes to steal my husband's wallet ... sort of like that Visa commercial with the monkeys playing keep away. Good thing I double-check our statements every month :)

Couldn't you see that as the next dove ad!  Dove makes your skin so soft....approved by GSPs!

Haha. Spencer is also a lotion licker - and he loves to try bite your socks as you put them on.

Speaking of dogs peeling fruit...the other day Spencer stole a bunch of 3 bananas off the bench without us noticing. We found 3 skins on the back lounge. He actually managed to peel them and just eat the flesh! haha.

He's so sneaky now. When he was a puppy you'd know he'd stolen something because he'd come zooming through the house and leap straight on to the back lounge. He must have figured out that this is a give away because now he waits until you're not watching and then walks casually away with whatever he's stolen. The casualties so far have been 3 pairs of my boyfriends thongs (flip flops for you americans), my favorite bra and 2 of my boyfriend's hats....to name a few.

lol... When Daniel steals something he knows he shouldn't have, he walks to within 5 feet of me and stands there, with the most ridiculously guilty expression on his face, wagging his stub. It's so cute. He knows he's in trouble & he turns himself in. :D

Layla just steals laundry out of the basket and drags it all over the house. Clean or dirty, it doesn't matter.

Halo brings us something every time we come home. Usually one of her toys.  Belle does the circle dance (spins) when she sees something outside and wants to go out.

This is Tory's morning routine: Brad and Tory get up, but I get to sleep a little longer with the door closed so they can have their bonding time. As soon as I'm up (not even completely out of the bed) he knows and is right at the door. I open the door thinking he's so happy to see mommy, ha! He goes in and grabs one of Brad's socks, then runs into the living room so proud and just wanting to be in trouble. We have scolded him, ignored him, everything we can think of, even made sure that there were no socks in sight or sniff, he'll find something else, but his favorite thing is a sock. So it's come, whoa, drop it, it's like he wants a bit of training to show us he knows. The other thing with him is that if he has something and he knows he shouldn't have it, like yesterday it was a little chocolate heart he had stolen, he will kind of hide and you'll hear him whining, as if he's saying "hello, I'm getting away with something, hello, HEllo, HELLO!!!”, then once you take a look his way his stub starts a going, he gets "the look" (I swear it's a big grin) and the chase is on.
Let me ask this one to those in the North where it gets cold. Does your GSP run around the house like a maniac when coming in from the cold? Even if we let Tory out only for a few minutes just to do his thing when it is cold out he comes in and runs around the house at 100 miles and hour (I exaggerated a bit there). He also does this to impress other dogs. He loves to show off how fast he can run, even looking back to see if his buddies are catching up with him.

Does anyone have silly routines with your GSPs? We have 2 that have to happen each and every morning. Above, as you see Brad gets up before me. He lets the dogs out and hides a pig’s ear for Tory. After Tory finds it he will not even start on it until our Shitzu has finished her A.M. snack and is waiting near by to vacuum up his crumbs. Once again he'll just sit there and whine until she participates. The other is, after I've taken my hair out of the towel after showering I spray it with conditioner, he can hear that pumping from across the house. It's his cue that he needs to get his treat ball we then go into the kitchen to put a treat into it. We have no idea how these even began, but if we forget, Tory will for sure remind us.

Jodi, I too enjoy wine and have just started making my own. We went to "wine creations" in our town to make and bottle our own. I gave a lot away at Christmas and got many compliments on it so now I have recently purchased the equipment to make and bottle wine at home. If you would like to try some send me your address in a private e-mail and I'll ship you a bottle of Merlot or Shiraz. I am more of a fan of reds, but just started a white and this weekend will work on a strawberry white merlot, it should be ready in time for summer.

Sorry if this was too long.

Crazy about the bread!  Ranger is all awag if he hears a bread bag and would probably take bread over meat as a treat!  First food he stole when he came to us was a bagel.

Also, if he is scolded (which thankfully is not at all often) he turns his head to the side.

Like this....  I know I've posted this before but what else can I say?  Check out the stash of garbage!!

Oh ya! Bo definitely likes to show how fast he can run to other dogs. His thing when he comes home from a walk, is he heeds to go and race around the yard for 5 minutes ... just to burn off all the energy he stored while walking like a normal dog

Jodi, Kerney is like Jackson with the beer and lotion. If my boyfriend has a beer out he has to hold it or Kerney will drink it. He always blames it on her being a German dog. :D She also follows me around sniffing me after I put on lotion too.

wow that is so funny that many of your dogs bring you toys or something when you come home.  Callie that we have now and our previous female both had to bring you something , we call it 'the greeter" .  Our male never did this,  I wonder what it means in doggie language.  It is really funny, she will frantically search for something, if no toy close by, it can be anything, a scrap of paper, a sock, whatever she can find.

Her favorite thing is socks, she LOVES socks.  I have to make sure to keep them picked up cause she carries them outside, then I might not find them again.  I take old holey socks and stuff them for her  as a toy, or tie several together.  I buy stuffed animals  at Goodwill for 50 cents, those are her 'babies'.  She also carries those outside, some never to be seen again. She will carry them out, but never brings them back in.  So I have to go round them up every few days.  Many of them I never find, no telling where they are. She also does the same thing as Jackson, she has a 'spot' in the yard that she brings stuff to and lays down to chew it up.  I wonder if other breeds do these silly things..? I'm convinced that shorthairs have a goofy gene.

Our GSP is a toy HOG - he does not want any of the other dogs playing with the toys (most of all the puppy). It started to become an issue so we put the toy box in the closet with the door closed. Everynight before bed my husband has to open the closet door and let our GSP count the toys to make sure they are all there before he will settle down to sleep.

He also has one toy that is his special baby - you tell him go get the baby and he carries it around and sings with it in his mouth. It is so funny. I have had to replace it 3 times because he pulls all the stuffing out. It got to the point it was a 4x4 square before I could find a new one. I now have a couple put up as backups.

Both our GSP and Pointer have a thing about socks - mainly our son's socks. They take them and go hide them.

Before our neighbor put up a kennel and his dogs were loose in their yard Molly would always take her new toy, bolt through the doggy door and take it up to the back fence to show them that she was a pampered pooch. When she sleeps on the couch when we are gone she always meets us at the door with her cow in her mouth and a loud "Aroooooo". We call it the cow of atonement. She also enjoys the last drops of beer from a bottle and pistachios which she opens herself. If we could only get her to pick up the shells.

Marie---I have yet to see a picture of Rocky in a cheesehead. Surely he owns a cheesehead.

it is so funny reading all the stuff I thought that only my dogs did Ruger is a shoe dog, never chews them just has to grab one we we come home. my hubby's slipper disappeared for the whole winter once when he dropped it outside. a few months later here he comes with it in his mouth. His favorite thing to do though is to take them up stairs & drop them so we never have a matching pair. We are with the Volunteer fire dept & I have had to wear my slippers or just socks to the fire hall  [ we have about 2 minutes to go a mile or the trucks leave without you!!],  cause I couldn't find a matched pair.  Tucker & Ruger are both major lotion lickers Since I am home all the time now I have noticed that Ruger goes upstairs every day around 3:00 to look out the window & wait for dad to come home, he doesn't like it when he is late or to early & he isn't up there yet, goofy dogs. I wonder if other breeds are this funny??
