I just laugh when I read posts on this site... the more I read...the more I realize a lot of the funny stuff Jackson does is just due to the fact he is  a GSP.  I wanted to make a post of some of the funny habits he has....maybe we can learn which quirks our GSPs have in common and which ones are just their own funny personality traits....

Jackson collects things in the backyard when my husband is working on the boat he is restoring.  He brings it to his spot and hoards (hides) it there.  sometimes he digs and things get burried too.  We do our best to keep everything up, but it is not too hard for him find something to steal.

Jackson refuses to carry any donut style toy anyway but this way.  If he picks it up the otehr way (so he can actually see)  he will drop it and then adjust it around his nose in front of his eyes.  He is such a clown.

He also likes evening ear and face cleanings from his brother Sanchez.....(sometimes if Jackson is tired enough the whole body gets a wash) gross I know...but I guess he stays clean.

He loves to look out the window for squirrels and also for dad...since he comes home after I do....

He also must sleep with stuffed animals as I posted in the sacks out page..... The list could go on...but I figured I would see what others have to say. I find GSP stories so amusing!!

Kerney, my older one, is always bringing me stuff. I can't leave my closet open or a trash can available. She will bring me socks, paper towels, etc. She also cracks me up with her jumping. She is not the most coordinated dog I have ever seen. :) When I give them water in the mornings she does all kinds of jumps; 360's, 1/2 back flips, and jumps up to my shoulder sometimes! She also does these fancy jumps when we throw the frisbee for Reggie, my Rat Terrier.

Hogan will not poop unless he has something up off of the ground to poop on.

During the summer months, he will back up to a bush and hang it in the branches.

This winter he has been in heaven with all of our snow. He just runs to the top of one of our many piles of snow and lets it go.

Hope I did not paint a picture to digusting.

My sister and brother in law had a lab that did the same thing.

They had an embarassing moment one time at dog beach in San Diego. They took their lab, "Rock" down there early one morning to run. They almost had the beach to themselves. No dogs, just one lone guy way down the beach, sitting reading a book.

Well my sister and brother in law let the lab go for a run and he descided it was time to unload, and low and behold, not many bushes to poop on at the beach. Well "Rock" the lab, spotted the poor guy down the beach minding his own business reading and enjoying the peacefulness of the morning.

Yup, and along comes "Rock" with a job to do.

On the poor guys shoulder!!!!

Hogan, that is funny! (Not for the guy on the beach though) What do you say to someone after that happens? Since we are on the subject, Kerney has the worst gas of any dog I have ever had!! I don't think it would be the food b/c it doesn't affect anyone else this way. They are loud too! My aunt had an English Bulldog with this issue. Just wondering if it is a GSP thing.

Hunter carries the donuts like that too. Both Stud and Hunter poop the same way too. Wierd! Mine spin when they are excited about going outside.
How about when they come near you with a toy and you go to take it, Mocha and doddi will snort and walk sideways at me. Tail pointing towards the side they are going. That way all you can do is pat them on the rear. It is funny!

Spot brings us something every time we come home.  Whatever he can find at a moments notice.  Could be a toy or a bone.  Sometimes even a piece of trash.  He has to bring us something!!!!

OK, mine do that too! A piece of paper, part of an old toy, etc. No matter what they just have to show me something! Cool!

Jackson also has terrrrrrible gas!  It seems to be getting better as he is closer to full grown, but man o man it can be bad!!! That is funny about they way they all do the same thing with the donut toys too!!

He also brings me random items around the house when he is bored...especially paper towels from the trash.  He knows I take them now...i think he has a secret compartment because i will look at him and he stops chewing and when i look away he starts again.  I can even look in his mouth (nothing) and it magically appears when i leave!  I think he has hamster pouches in there!!!!

Haha. Spencer does the same thing, whenever we arrive home and he's excited to see us he franticly looks for something to carry in his mouth while he jumps and races around the house. Whatever is closest is good enough, dog toy, empty milk carton, underwear...

My Rose likes to gently jump up to "give kisses", so you think! She will give 2 or 3 licks (kisses) & then get a look on her face & if you're not quick enough or smart enough, she'll nip your lip or nose & then smile like it was cute, as you say "OWW!".

Learned something!  Always thought the toy thing was just Spot.  But even GSP's in Australia do it!

Funny!! Max gets terrible gas. A few interesting habits he has:
loves bread, the more seeds etc in it the better. He prefers bread to bones, meat etc!! HE likes to mouth at your feet when you are getting ready for a walk. He recognises walk clothes you see. If we do not let him on the sofa (only as a special treat and if there is a cover on it) he will go behind the sofa and put his paws up so he can see us from there. Otherwise, best bit ever. I was defrosting a soft shell crab or two, well he took them out of the sink and placed them very delicately in order out on the patio. Almost a 'just to let you know I had them in my mouth but I did not like them'.

Ha ha they are so funny- most of my belly laughs these days come from Max.

Bo likes to lick our ears and would French kiss us given the opportunity. Ewwww!

HE gets upset when WE point out something to HIM.

He does the "hide stuff in the jowls" thing too. He once picked up some gum on an early morning walk with hubby. When I got up about a half hour later, I thought Bo had particularly minty breath. I looked but could find nothing, but everytime I stopped looking he started chewing again -- it took me about 10 minutes to find the darn thing!

Well, Bean walks sideways kind of at an angle, and if we encounter a curb, she will walk on it like a tight rope. she falls off sometimes, but gets back on, looking back at me in embarassment, as if to say  " I meant to step off "

Bean is a house dog, and she has a spot to sit, when we bring her inside. We have a dog throw, on the floor, she  comes in and immediatley sits, so we can towel her off, wipe her feet etc. She won't move until she gets her rub down....she looks so cute sitting there in her towel wrapped like a cape...I'll take a pic....she looks like a super hero

Oh yea after she gets her rub down & hears okay............she rips through the house about three times, before planting her butt at her window seat.

Spot does the sitdown and towel off too.  Only for Spot, the word is free.  Then he knows it's OK to tear around the house.

OK, how about coffee?  Spot will beg borrow and steal for coffee.  We were watching TV in bed one morning and we both got up to do something.  Leaving Spot in bed alone.  We came back to bed and our coffee was gone.  Spot was laying on his back pretending to sleep.  I never dreamed a dog would go after coffee.  He begs for coffee like some dogs beg for steak.  I turn on the coffee maker and Spot sits in front of it and drools.  That's just wrong!

You should see Bo drool over his apple at dinner ... his mouth gets all foamy (in anticipation) and then the drool starts sliding down his jowls. A couple nights ago the resulting puddle was about the size of a bread plate.
