My heart aches with yours...we lost one of our GSP's at 7 months old to something with liver failure, so I understand what you are going thru...

Oh my goodness...not the update I expected today :( So very sorry for your loss of Kintra. I truly believe you will see her again one day :) Until then, keep the good memories close to your heart and know she was thankful for the wonderful life you gave her! Not fair that it was cut so short.

I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

Thank you everybody for your kind thoughts.  She had gotten worse by yesterday morning, and whilst planning to do the aspiration she got worse, her lung filled with fluid and consolidated.  Must have been the fluid in her system seeping through.  She was apparently in distress and having difficulty breathing so we gave the go-ahead to relieve her suffering.  We are just absolutely devastated and struggling to get through the day because everything around us reminds us of her.  Every journey we ever made included her so even getting into the car is difficult.  We have opted to have a post mortem carried out in order to answer our questions but also to hopefully help prevent this happening in the future.

The vet said she was obviously a lovely girl and that she attempted to wag her tail even towards the end.  We know that our lives have been made better for having her, even for such a short time.  We'll never forget you Kintra, love you lots, mummy and daddy xxx

Miss you forever Kintra baby xxx

I'm so sorry for your loss. I could barely get through your post, I can't imagine what you must be going through. I hope that answers from the post mortem provide you some peace... but even without that, take comfort in knowing how much it must have been a comfort to Kintra having you there for her. You did everything you could. I wish there was more I could say to ease the pain.

I am very sorry for your loss. :( I hope you can take comfort in the fact that you gave her a good life and at the end you gave her the gift of release so she didn't suffer needlessly.

Oh dear, I am so very very sorry too.  You know that probably all of us have gone through this (although with such a young dog even harder) so we absolutely know your grief and that it is real.   In my experience  the best way to plug the hole in the heart is with a new GSP but everyone is different in how much time it takes.

Again, so very very sorry.
