Sorry for the desperate subject heading but i wanted to ask if anyone out there has any experience of liver disorders in their gsp.  Our girl is at the vet school in glasgow being kept in a stable condition but they are having difficulties diagnosing the problem. They have found a lesion on her liver but are unable to biopsy at the moment. I know this sounds cheeky but could you maybe reply to this post if you have a positive story about this sort of problem because we really need to stay positive.  If you are interested in replying, it might be worth referring to the thread entitled "Food" beforehand because this gives all the updates and symptoms etc. My original post was about the BARF diet and then quickly became about my wee dog's very quick decline.  I would really appreciate any feedback, opinions, comments, stories, etc.  Thanks in advance xxx

Miss you forever Kintra baby xxx

First, I have been following your other thread and continue to hope and pray for good news.  I don't know if this report will help or make you feel better, but it is the results of a health survey that the GSP Club of America ran back in 2005.  I think it might be helpful to you to note that very few shorthairs had issues with the liver.  So maybe you can hang on to that and continue to hope. Here is a link to the report

Hang in there, your baby is in good hands and you have allot of folks pull for her and you on the forum.

You know we are pulling for her. I have no info but if I can find some I'll post it. As I said before the liver tissue does regenerate and heal. There are simple things to help it along but first we need to get her stronger. So glad you have her where you do and sheis getting such good care

Having recently received sad news about our pup I can appreciate how difficult it is to stay positive. We are sending positive thoughts, many prayers and warm puppy hugs your way.

I will admit I didn't read your food thread til I saw this. I am soooooo sorry you are going through all of this.

Coming from a person with a liver disease myself I want you to know that liver issues are VERY VERY draining but as soon as it is figured out what is going on and it is treated life for the patient goes back to pretty much normal. I have hopes for you that this is the same for your precious dog!

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Prayers sent for Kintra and your family. I also have followed your last post and am happy that she is at the school. Hopefully they will come up with a diagnosis soon and get her on the road to recovery. Thank you for keeping us posted as we are all pulling for her on this forum!!!!

Thank you all very much.  We are hoping to hear whether her plasma transfusion has been successful and should be told in a few hours when they have received the blood results. They did remove some of the fluid from her abdomen - 60ml - doesnt sound much but i suppose if it's pressing against internal organs which are already painful she should hopefully be getting some relief from that now.  Will update when we receive the bloods.  xxx

So sorry for your loss.

I'm sure your breeder will be interested in this information.

I have no words. My tears blend with yours. Poor, dear Kintra...may she always be in your hearts and memories. Know that she runs free at Rainbow Bridge with all her friends and all our other dear Shorthairs gone there.
