Sadie will be 15 months old tomorrow. Over the last two weeks I've noticed some changes in her. Lately, everything is about scent. Our three-a-day walks/plays sessions aren't what they used to be. Instead of me throwing and she retrieving her "chicky" (my wife's nickname for Sadie's training dummy) contstantly, she barely pays attention to it. Our walks now consist of her scenting everything and pointing a lot of things, albeit only for a second or two. All of a sudden there is a lot of things beside "chicky" in her life. Before, that was all she was interested in. She still has interest in it, but not anywhere near where it was. Everywhere we went, boat rides, jeep rides with the top off or walks, Sadie had "chicky" in her mouth. It was comical. I guess this is just a growing phase. We are one month away from grouse season here and being retired at age 50, I hunt nealy ever day for six weeks during the season. Sadie hunted with me last year whe she was 4-5 months old and I shot several birds off her points, although she still has a long ways to go. Maybe, somehow, she senses fall time around the corner, or it is another phase in her development. Either way, it is very noticeable.
