I am trying to get Baira over her stranger danger. She is very wary of strangers and growls alot when people come into the house. If someone approaches her she barks and runs. I tried telling her "enough" and removing her from the room if she didn't stop. That wasn't working so, I have now put a box of treats by the front door and ask every guest to take a few treats and totally ignore Baira. Then when she approaches them to let her have a sniff and then give her a treat. Well, i've done it 3 times now and today showed an improvement already. A friend came to collect something this morning and she only growled once and then with in 15 seconds she was sat next to him, took a treat and had her paw up on his knee for another one. He was able to stroke her and put both hands on her head/face without her panicing, barking and running off. PROGRESS!!!
I am hoping that she will associate visitors/strangers with receiving a treat. Making them a positive thing, something nice as apposed to what ever it was she associated them with before. Do you understand what I mean?
