Since my last post regarding the Agressive Beanster, I have been looking for Pro help, so far I have only found "classes"....and they aren't too keen on the idea of an aggressive participant. SOOOO  I'm looking into individual counseling

I have a couple good leads, just need to get scheduling together, and one is at the Boarding kennel Bean stayed at B4...probably my best bet.

MEANTIME...I 've come to the conclusion that Bean isn't as well behaved as I thought...

During our walks, she heels...but seemingly under duress !!  Like she knows it's just until we get to the next area where she's allowed to have her own way...There is never any deviation in our route....she's "street wise"  that way.......SO  the last two days, We've upset the apple cart, so to speak !

I've gone back to step one......DISCIPLINE.....the first day ...she'd look at me  like ...as I led her through the BASICS again

Heeling/ sitting upon a stop....sitting straight on a stop...left turns/ right turns...you get the idea

different paces all that basic dog 101 stuff...that I had let slide. Today we went a total new route training as well as play time, and I really think we BOTH felt more confident when we were done. Discipline equals confidence to me...not to mention all the praise and hugs when we did really good...Bean was really acting JAZZED...Hopefully this will be an asset when we get our PRO help !

We had a special treat today....we were about 20 minutes from home and heard sirens...so she began her "howling gig"....and I stopped and we got our HOWL on together...Who cares is the passing cars thought we were crazy...I can howl almost as good as Bean

Renée, I swear to god it sounds like you and Bean have the greatest time together.

I know what you mean about walking the same route. Bo even knows where we normally stop for treats and will stop ahead of us. I'd love to mix it up, but after freezing rain last week followed by 30 cm of snow on the weekend and freezing rain tonight, I'm just happy to get the walks in :)

OMG! I am LMAO at you and Beans. I could just imagine what people were thinking. I am still laughing. As bad as me singing the calendar girl to Mocha because she is Miss February on Beth's rescue calendar.
As far as Beans goes, I think it is good to change it up. These dogs require mental stimulation as well as physical. Keeps them thinking and not be bored. That may change Beans problems too. Good Luck.

I sing "Danny Boy" to Daniel all the time, so I can imagine the looks you got, having received them myself. :D And I bet Bean takes her cues from you and the more confident you are in her the more confident she will feel about strange situations. Mixing up was a great idea, good luck!

Renee' you are right on with training according to my GSP owners manual book. If your GSP starts acting aggressive go back to basic training obedience commands. And that is just what you did. Good for you(:
Fun doing a howling duet with Bean. I will try that with Rocky next fire truck whistle we hear!!!!

Ace, Mocha is a glamerous Calender Feburary girl!!! I marked her name on the side of her picture!! Look forward to next month on the calender as Rocky is Mr March Calender boy!!! Both of our sons are happy cause they were both born in March.(:

That's cool. Rocky is already famous too from those Christmas card. How many did you actually send out? I'dve probably wanted to keep them all!

Everbell,

This crazy cold slippery weather is exactly what clued me into Bean's "BAD SELF"

We were forced to make changes to accomodate the icy roads...or NO WALK ....

Bean wasn't quite as GOOD under the route change....Hmmmmm  then I got   IT !!!

She'd been scamming me...

Today we did our old route...that LITTLE Angel thought she had it made...I could tell by her body language,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,ooooops MOM 'S slackin' again   NOT !!!!!

I tossed in some drills, when safe & appropriate............We even heeled right past our driveway ......................She thought I'd lost my mind.....Which could be TRUE

But we're making progress.and we'll keep at it

Ya -- the biggest challenge I find with these guys is they pick stuff up SO quick, so you think. "Ah, what a smart dog. No more training needed."

Ha! That's just when you need to start working them again. I must admit I do feel a little goofy doing the walk back and forth thing with Bo, but then I realize the following: in the summer, we would meet at least 10 to 15 dogs a night on the same walk. In the winter we are lucky if we see one. So I figure, people can laugh at me if they want. At least we are out walking and working with him. :)

I think that's what they mean when you read the temperament of the gsp and they use trainable and willful in the same paragraph!! *laughs* :D
