I'm so sorry to hear that it went so deep. I'll say a prayer that pathology says the margins are clear. Please let us know. How many days do you have to wait for the report?

Jean

Thanks everybody - he's home!!
He's groggy but was happy for some dinner, was able to give a slow mo tail wag for his dad, and in a classic Bugsy when he saw me waiting to pick him up he dragged the vet tech to me even though he didn't fully have his legs which were splaying in four different directions lol
Then he literally ran up the ramp into the car and looked out the back window all the way home.
He is so vibrant ( some would say too vibrant) it is near impossible to accept he might be very ill.
Unfortunately the vet said he hoped the tumor would come out like a grape but it didn't. Bugsy has three layers of sutures.
I'm hoping we hear something by Friday but it likely will be at least a week
Now the trick will be to keep him to leash walks only for two weeks

thanks Sheila - I'll likely keep that up to date with progress
BTW I created the website for a class I took and named it daily zoomie because everyday after our walk/run/hike/bike/swim he comes home and winds up running those crazy butt on fire zoomies, over shrubs, around trees, grabbing pine cones, figure eights whatever floats his boat. I've not done much with the website in way too long but the blog keeps going

Sending healing vibes to Bugsy. I'm glad he's home.

We'll be sending continued prayers for him. He's a tough boy.

I love your comment above about his daily zoomies....I can only imagine a dog of that size with zoomies. It has to be hysterical!!! Now tell me that doesn't make you laugh to think of that. ;)

Wishing Bugsy all the best. Hoping for clean margins and a good recovery.

I once had a dog that had a mast cell tumor removed from her hind legs, deeply inbedded in muscles, vet removed an entire muscle, sent everything off, and it turned out he did NOT get a clean margin. Next step would have been amputation which we didn't do. She lived another 10 years! Don't get too discouraged just yet...they tend to surprise us sometimes :)

To live without dogs would mean accepting a form of blindness. [Thomas McGuane]

Wishing Bugsy all the best and a FULL recovery!!!!! it's so hard when they get sick, especially when you have no idea what it is, or what it's going to do to them. You are both in my thoughts and prayers

Thank you all so much - he is doing OK, alright better than OK in that a bit ago he wanted to go out so I took him out -what he wanted to do was to point and then chase some crows that he had spotted while inside. he isn't supposed to be doing anything yet - crazy boy!
I'm trying to not think about waiting for the lab report! It is so hard to accept that as of Friday morning my worries with him were hunting fox and knee issues and now I may find out his time is limited. Looking at him makes accepting that impossible
Kelley, Bugsy is completely nuts, he has no idea that he is the size his is and can run like a fool with moves! Even back in March when I took him to that bird dog trainer we let him play with his gsp's and brittanies and he ran faster and just as hard. The trainer was just stunned LOL

Thanks all, still waiting, sigh. He is doing superbly and ran zoomies this morning, 2x nearly splitting/popping the staples! If he is sick no one told him!
