Bev - the breeder is a close friend of mine so I am staying at his house and doing most of the puppy watching as he has gone into hospital to have a shoulder operation, so yes |

Was wondering about tail docking in the UK...Hogan has such a distinguished white tipped tail and all the pups got docked. What's the general thought across the pond? (not looking to start a controversy or re-hash old discussions...just wondering) |

Well JDog - the general consensus seems to be that people continue to dock. The law states that any dog now docked after the law came into place cannot be shown at a show which charges an entrance fee to the public, for example crufts, and other championship shows such as Ladies Kennel Association and Windsor. All the other shows can be entered by young docked dogs. There has been a few studies done on tail injuries by the breed associations but not much has come of it. I chose this litter to be docked because they are from the best European working lines and will be worked - possibly shown - and a longer tail is always a risk when working, especially in cover! |

Pixie Bee,
The bitch is Omi Z Vapenek, she is an Trialer D'Automn and has awards in England on Grouse. She also has a RCAC in showing.
The sire is Pablo Pradellinensis, he is an International Champion in both showing and working.
Here is the pedigree of Omi:
Mother

Father

And this is the pedigree of Pablo:

They are both hard hunting dogs, Pablo is one of the best in Europe and Omi has been on the world championship team for 3 years +.
We hope the pups will excel in Europe trialling and also showing.

It goes to show how related dogs can be. Haiko has Pradellinensis Erik and a z Vapenek dog in him. Would you ever consider doing any versatile testing or hunting? I know you will be more than pleased with whichever pup you choose. Thanks for posting the pedigree. |

| Jons a typical man - 'not bothered!' - I suppose this must be the fourth litter he has bred, his daughter and me are squealing like excited children and Jon and his wife just shake their heads at us! |

Pixie Bee, what are you referring to when you say versatile testing and hunting? What a small world it is! |

Trialing and grouse dogs are upland hunting/testing. Versatile includes fur (drags)and water(duck searches) with mandatory retrieves of fur and feather, including ducks. The German DKV or czech republic tests are the leaders in the world of versatile testing. The reason I ask is b/c I know in Ialy and most other european countries the pointers are used mainly as upland dogs - trialing. Since the breed is a versatile hunter I was wondering if you planned on including it. |

Ah thanks Pixie Bee. My pup won't be doing tracking/dragging or tests like that. We are very limited in the UK. There is a new club started 'The german hunting dogs association' which is organising events like that but they are few and far between. I can't speak for the other puppies, but I will be concentrating on field trialling (FCI in Europe) and in the UK, Working Tests (which are similar to field trials but use dummies) and possibly showing depending on the bitch and her conformation. I have a feeling they may grow a little oversize for the UK but that's not a problem, my main focus will be trialling. |

Whatever you do will bring out the natural ability. Have fun with it. You may discover what a great tracker you have when a few cripples hit the ground and need to be recovered or you encounter runners. |

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen photos of an entire big litter that was all liver, very cool. Not that it can't or doesn't happen, I just haven't seen it.
I love the "hauling a$$" photo of the sire, very humorous! |
