Hi All,

Looking for any help at all...  My Wolfgang has been hospitalized since yesterday morning with a fever (105) - they have been doing tests, pumping him full of fluids and antibiotics, but the fever isn't breaking...  Any ideas?

Thanks,

Paul

has he been bitten by a tick?
has he been eating,peeing,pooping
can you think of anything that wouldindicate illness before yesterday?

Prayers being sent Wolfgang's way

Wish I had some advice.

Friends of ours' recently lost their 8yo GSP to Immune Mediated Hemalitic Anemia (IMHA). One day he was perfectly healthy, the next he was gone. Hope this isn't the case with your baby :(

You know I just thought of something actually, could he be tested for Lyme Disease? One of the symptoms of that is a high fever.

Where do you live? If in the southwest US or have visited the southwest US, I would be testing for valley fever.

As was alluded to, it could be SO many things from tick bite illnesses to Valley Fever type illness, I truly can offer no advice sorry to say. Hope they discover the reason soon & your pup makes a full recovery!!

No tick born illnesses -- that's been ruled out by blood tests -- they are thinking some type of autoimmune process. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers.

Paul,
I would call the breeder.

Any Vet schools near you that you could get a second opinion from. They may know of something in your area or recognize the symptoms. May be worth investigating if your vet is stumped. I would also call the breeder as pixie suggested in case they know of any similar issues in their lines.

Bev Quarles, the Pointer Sisters (Belle and Halo), the Outlaw GSP (Johnny Ringo) and the little Princess (Fauna)

I've got a call in to the breeder... No vet schools within about 2.5 hour drive. He's in a really good facility -- well trained Doctors.
