...for sliding on the wood floor and slamming his little chihuahua brother into the french doors.... completely removing any sign of a toenail...nerve nail and all leaving nothing but a torn pad!

Now Sanchez is recovering and not very happy with his larger active brother...  but Jackson feels very very bad!!

For anyone else who has seen this happen they know it is just awful for the dog... lot's of pain and bleeding!  He took it like a trooper though... trying to be tough to prove he is not as small as he looks. The vet said the nail may never come back

GSPs just sometimes have a way of getting into trouble when they don't mean to

Yes, they sure have some interesting injuries. I have had to take Mocha in 2 times to have a nail removed because she fractured it up into the pad. Came back both times. Hunter cut his pad in half, has broke 3 toes, Belle jumped over barbed wire and almost gutted herself, porcupines, and tomorrow Doddi goes to the vet for stitches, she sliced the back of her leg tonight.
Hope your little one recovers well.

I hope your little guy feels better! My 2 GSP's have a 7 pound Rat Terrier as a buddy. :) He usually holds his own pretty well. Although today he almost ripped his dew claw off. Here's a picture of Reggie. I say he is 7 pounds of fury. HAHA

Jackson is doing well and has his bandage off.  They ar not sure if it will grow back, but it looks promising.  He has no trace of a nail at all though!  NO one should knock little dogs!!! They can be real troopers and quite the boss when needed.  Your little guy has a lot more to deal with!! 2 gsps ....  that takes talent!  what a cuite though

This was sanchez telling him who was boss when they were closer in size.... hehe

Thanks! Glad to her Jackson is good. Reggie thinks he is a lot bigger than 7 lbs. :) He never hesitates to put the girls in their place.

I live in Woodstock now. It's about 30 minutes north of Atlanta. Originally from north GA on the TN, NC line. There is a good breeder in the Gainesville area, near Lake Lanier. I can't think of the name off the top of my head. I know he use to be a vet, he is retired now and hunts and raises puppies. That sounds like quite a trip from Tampa! :)

YES!!! That is where we got Jackson... from Doctor Dellinger!!  <img src=" align="absMiddle" border="0" src="/DesktopModules/NTForums/themes/blue/emoticons/smile.gif" />  What a small world.  He is in the Gainsville area. We wanted liver....and we did fin many breeders in FL.  We actually were going to Lake Lanier for the 4th of July so everything just worked out perfctly for us!

Yes, that is his name!!!! That's crazy!!! I went over there and he and his wife are soooooo nice! They were expecting a couple of litters and I happened to find my female before their pups were born. How old is Jackson? It may have been around the same time! I thought they took good care of their dogs. Everything was clean and he spent a lot of time talking to me about them. I love the male they have on their website. He was the sire to one of the litters.

I almost bought a solid liver this time but went with heavy ticking and patching instead. My females sire is solid liver though. I'm thinking if I have a litter with her maybe she will have a few solid babies. (Not 100% on having a litter) Her brother was solid liver and put his head in my pocket and wanted to come home with me too. I just don't think I need 3 GSP's and 1 Rat Terrier in an apt. :) I think I mixed Jackson and Sanchez before. Jackson is the GSP and Sanchez is the little guy right? They are both handsome!

I did not see his website...do you have it by chance?  JAckson's sire was  Dellinger's Hepatic Whirlwind also went by Hershey....he looks a lot like Jackson just without the white.  His mother was Dellnger's Fancy Pants.  Jackson is just around 8months now.  We got him a few days after the fourth of JUly.  His mother was not solid liver.  I would say at least half of his littermates were liver and the other half were ticked with liver patches.  He was a sweet guy and seems to have been doing this for a long time.  He has a lot of dogs, but seems to keep them all very busy hunting and working on his property.  I guess they hold field trials on his land. That is funny that you may have had one of Jackson's siblings...

Dellinger's Hepatic Whirlwind?

Only someone from the med profession would think of a name like that for a liver dog.  Hilarious!

I was looking into his pups the summer of 2006. He does have quite a few but they all looked good, even the older ones. I know I was on the waiting list but when I found Kerney I had to call and let them know. I had thought about seeing if they stud their dogs out in case I breed Bailey. Kerney is already spayed. This is his website http://hometown.aol.com/wadbirddog/page1.html there are pics of a lot of dogs on there.
