Thats fine Almost heaven I do definatley understand your point of view :)
On the topic of dew claws some definatley point outwards more then downwards. My pups are quite close to her leg and I will keep an eye on them as she grows as to determine whether they will be a problem. My parents have a 7 month Ridgeback whose claws point 'outwards' more. She hasn't damaged them... yet but I have suggested to them that they have them removed when she gets sterilized.
I just think it depends on the particular dog and in some cases breed. Especially with greyhounds whose claws would be a huge problem!!

Oh and also theres not a huge ability to do hunting in Australia. We have rabbits and foxes and thats pretty much it (the only things we're allowed to hunt). We have no native birds that can be flushed but there are a few contained areas with pheasants.
Just saying its not as common here as the most hunting that goes on is from pig or roo dogs not the pointers!
