Bowser came home at seven pm tonight, groggy but in good spirits. He has I little limp going on but other then that seems fine. He had no trouble eating his food and taking a nap with me. I read on the papers not to let him walk up and down the steps for a while. If I take him slowly on a leash do you think their will be a problems with the stiches or should I just carry him.

I would let him walk, just keep him on a leash and don't let him bound up and down the stairs. These dogs are way to big and heavy to carry.

Yeah he should be fine going up the stairs I would think. I could never carry Gunner up a flight of steps. Yikes! He's atleast 60lbs now!

I pick Bentley up for cuddles all the time, bit easier being a guy i suppose!

He'll be getting his bits off on the 4th of May, bless him.

we just had izzy done a few months ago. I agree with everyone here, good luck keeping them calm. She was sprinting through the house as soon as she got home. We would do the kong thing and put her in the kennel when she was getting to crazy. We had another problem with her reaction to the drugs. lots of vommit and a serious case of the poops.

Slower -- we had the same problem with Bo. Once we took him off the pain meds, he did better. Raz was a mature spay, and she was a little groggy for a few days, but then UNIMPRESSED with her house arrest :P Love these guys :)

Bowsers back to his crazy self again and I'm worried about it messing with the stiches. I let him out of the crate this morning on a leash to pee. I got him back down stairs to eat and put the baby gate up so he didn't run up and down the stairs. We have a couch that isn't pressed against the wall. Bowser kept jumping on the couch and flying off the back of it....back to the crate he goes.

Back in the olden days (1970's) nobody (well, nobody I knew) ever heard of crates.  I remember cringing as our Weimaraner Coco not only ran around the yard wildly after being spayed, but then flung herself down, rolled, and wriggled around on her back!      Amazingly, no harm came of it.

Its just going to be for a few days until he heals up a little. We adopted a month ago and he had no training at all at six month old. He's hard to settle down so the crate is really our only option while were not right by his side

The Elizabethan collar also slows them down. Although, after five days, Raz started pushing into my legs to indicate her displeasure. :P

Honestly I wouldnt worry about it too much. I think you will be surprised how well the stitches will hold up. Just use a bit of common sense and he will be fine. As I said earlier Dieter was running around by the third day and I actually had him swimming on the fourth day. Obviously I dont recommend you do that but I felt he would be fine and what do you know..no problems!

That sounds so typical of a shorthair !  These little creatures are so smart .

Hope bowser is feeling like his old self ! I would have to say I bet he has forgotten all about it already.

I gave up on day four trying to contain his energy, for mine and his sanity. He seems to be doing great and is back to his crazy self again.

I'm so not looking forward to the day(s) I have to keep Remi quiet after his neuter! :\

Glad Bowser is doing well.
