What type of toys do your dogs play with and don't demolish within a matter of minutes?
The only things that have lasted with Lucy is a Cuz, and deer antlers. She had a volley ball that she loved, and I just threw out after a week. She even manages to take the ends of the nylabones. |

So far our dogs have failed to destroy Tuffies toys (http://www.tuffietoys.com/). We have about 6 or 7 of their toys and they are rated by how indestructible they are. They are definitely on the pricey end, but even Autumn, who just went through emergency surgery to have 9 feet of string from a rug removed from her GI tract, can't destroy them, so definitely worth it!!! I've also made my own fleece tug toys by braiding the fleece. It's nice and cheap so once they start to fall apart I just throw them away. |

I like the fleece toys braided and find they usually last a good while. Deer antlers are a favorite too. Also, there is a rope toy that looks about the size of a volleyball and the rope comse out on both ends and my dogs love that and have not torn it up. I have two of them now because they like them so much. Here is a picture of my dogs playing with the rope toy. Definitely an outside toy, but they love it and haven't torn it up yet. For inside rope toys I get the humongous ropes that are about 2 - 3 inches in diameter. Anything with squeakers usually meets a very fast death. |

| Remington canvas dummies you can buy in sporting dog section of Fleet Farm. Also can buy pheasant scent small bottle to sprinkle on the canvas dummy to take it to a different GSP level. I tie a bright orange rope onto the dummy for easy tossing. |

We're kind of in the same boat. Our toy box consists of: Lots of tennis balls, regular & squeaky Cuz toys Nylabones Antlers Kongs And we do have a few of these toys: http://www.westpawdesign.com/catalog/dogs/dog-toys/guaranteed-tough-zogoflex Stuffed toys just do not hold up. For the beach we use Dead Fowl Trainers, dummies & chuck it. |

| Good news. I stopped at Tractor Supply this morning, and they have several of the toys mentioned here. Got her a hard Kong ball for today. They also had the rope ball pull, which I will pick up later. Just wondering. Although the rope is thick and hard, do your dogs have a problem with the frayed ends, i.e., chewing and possibly ingesting the pieces. Lucy did that with a smaller rope chew I got her some time back. Also, plan to check out Jay's Sporting for the Remingtons. |

| We don't buy the rope toys since Bo will just chew them (gets them behind his molars and gnaws). |

| We don't do rope toys either b/c of the strings that come out and I am a worry wart about somebody eating them and getting sick or having an obstruction. I've had them in the past and I end up just taking them away and tossing them b/c they come apart so easily. |

Max the little spectator was Fauna at about 10 weeks. Now at 8 months she does join in the game. In fact when Halo, Ringo and Fauna get going with that toy, Belle and I stay out of the flight path. As for ropes I would agree with many of the ropes, but these balls they don't tend to gnaw on, maybe because they are outside. Also the big 2 to 3 inch in diameter ropes they work on, but even Ringo has a hard time because of the thickness. Don't get me wrong, they do eventually gnaw through them, but it takes a long time. The thinner rope toys don't work worth a dime. |

| Thanks. Guess I'll leave the rope toys in the store. If anyone is going to gnaw on the strings and get in trouble with them, it will be Lucy. ;-) |

I have a large (basketball sized) rigid plastic ball that Jasper loved to push around the yard, and it is indestructable. The only problem is that when it hits something (like the side of a deck or house) it makes an annoying amount of noise! I don't remember seeing one lately, though. I have had some reinforced canvas toys, I think made by fatcats, that lasted well. |

TexasBelle--well, if the elephants in the zoo can't destroy them, surely a GSP couldn't. . . . . |

Whatever Daniel & Layla don't destroy, Daniel manages to lose in the yard, so I only buy really cheap toys, now, with an occasional Kong or Cuz. Our local dollar store is owned by dog lovers, so there are always plenty of fun toys that I don't mind losing... no rope toys, though, I once had to...er... extricate... a string from Daniel's bum & am so grateful it wasn't an obstruction! When my sister's kids are older, I plan on paying them a quarter for every dog toy they find in the yard. |

Windsor likes his antlers but his favorite toys are anything that squeaks. He was gutting all squeaky toys but lately he's been pretty good with the cheap Petco squeaky tennis balls He likes the smaller ones better because they fit in his mouth and he just chomps and squeaks them for hours. Drives me nuts but it keeps him calm. Once he passes out I put them away for the night because nothing like the dog getting up with me at 6 a.m. and squeaking away. He plays with them inside and I have some outside to play fetch with. I am going to try the training dummies next because I tried the chair trick where I don't play with him unless he drops it in my lap and he took to that quick. I say GIVE and it goes right in my lap now! So a training dummy will be my next outdoor toy as these squeaky balls get all gooey and full of mud. It got full of beer tonight. I was out playing fetch and my beer was on the porch. He came bumbling along, knocked my beer over, dropped the ball in it, lapped up the mess and then sucked on the ball LOL |

Anyone ever heard that tennis balls are bad for dogs tooth enamel? That's the only reason we don't let Bo play with tennis balls anymore cuz he would chew them for hours |
