Yep Chris.... you got that right! Every night (actually in about a half hour) Windsor will be on the bed snoozing with me. Then hubby comes home and I pretty much get the very edge of the bed at that time. Windsor will sprawl out in between us and basically push me off.

I agree with the bed sleeping.... We bought a King size and I STILL only get about 6 inches of it! But, I love cuddling with my dog, he likes to sleep under the covers, too!

Zach,
have you hunted behind the parents yet?

I have not, I have talked with the breeder who hunts them regularly and also other owners of dogs from their litter and all have had very good hunting animals right from the start.

I know I can be the bad guy.

On their site they only list one dog with PennHip. Have the parents of your future pup been tested and if so, have you been supplied copies of the results? Have they done other health clearances?

Then there is the range of their dogs. How is it possible to have 5 GSP all less than 70 yards????

Not only is it not desireable but questionable,as well.

I am curious about what trials or hunt tests they have performed with their dogs.

I apologize if it sounds like I am raining on your parade.

An informed consumer is the best consumer.

Pixie, thank you for your opinion. I personally don't see that big of an issue for them only being between 40-60 yards. It's all opinion really, you could want a 1000 yard range where I'm completely fine with what I'll be getting.

Can you give me some reasons why more range is absolutely needed?

Additionally pixie, from emails and visiting with this breeder I am more than happy with my choice to go with them. I thank you again for the questions though. Also, all their hips and other health tests are clean and clear!

GSPWI-ZL - Just looked at the pedigrees of the parents and your pup ought to be outstanding in the field. He has some of the greats in his pedigree with Dixieland's Rusty, Stradivarious Baroque. My oldest girl has Dixieland's Rusty in her pedigree and she is hands down the smartest dog I have ever owned. You should really be happy with this breeding.

I have always worked Max between 35 -70 yrds . This is do to the type of hunting we do. Here where we live its tight quarters and sometimes  small pieces of property. I have never field trialed or hunted out west where the dogs run what I call a little bigger.
I must admit when I watch the dogs on TV really covering ground it gets me excited. We don't have that type hunting here.

I am sure you will be very pleased with your new pup.

Can't wait to see pictures.

You just need some training Max. Possibly the use of an E-Collar? hahaha.

I'll be picking up my puppy around the end of the 7th week/beginning 8th week. I asked the breeder about shots and she said that she will not have given the puppies any of the shots yet and that I should do this when I get him. Is this normal?

Thanks everbell. I just wasn't sure because sometimes you see breeders that will start the shots and was curious. I'll have to make sure to have this all arranged for when I get my puppy.

Yup ... when we brought Bo home, we took him to our vets the next day. And they filled us in on the vaccination schedule and everything.

The breeder will probably send you home with that info as well.
