Several sites recommended the SportDog 1825, so I bought one last spring with an extra collar for Layla & LOVE it. Reliable & durable. Easy to program. Not as expensive as some of the others. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00280Q86U

Mia is beautiful. Love the B/W.

Thank you. I have to say that I think the b/w are a little different to the l/w, not worse, not better, just different. Here in the UK they are usually from very strong/recent German lines and tend to be a bit more spiky. Mia's natural hunting instinct is a 1000 times stronger than my last bitch, she is much more reactive. We don't let her off lead because of the issues I spoke about at the top of this thread but she has still caught pheasant, rabbits and rats while on the long line. She has tried to get foxes, deer and a badger once but ran out of line. My last dog would never have done any of that. I am going to start gundog training with her next week to try and harness some of it. I think she would have been a great working dog if she had been given the chane earlier. But then again she is still only just two.

Sounds like you got a "firecracker". Like you say she is only two so you should have no problem. Nice looking dog and lots of luck with her !

Dogs are never too old to learn. It may take longer, but it is not impossible to teach an old dog new tricks.

Hi. I got her from the breed rescue and their policy is that they don't issue any papers or give line information and won't let them go anywhere without them being neutered before they leave. I do kow that the gene pool for the b/w is quite small here so they could be related. I also know that my bitch was bred in Ireland and was puppy farmed. Have you had both l/w and b/w? If so, do you think that there is a difference?

Very true ! remember the adage" you can't teach an old dog"
what a bunch of bologna that turned out to be. At 18yrs old I rescued(or he rescued me) a mut and entered an obedience program. That dog graduated second in a class of twelve and attained a free scholarship to the next step of off leash training.Trophy and everything. He lost by a half a point to a pedigree and everyone that was there on graduation night said he deserved first place !

I am not bragging for me but I am bragging for him !As I sit here with a tear in my eye
