Again thanks. Star may have prefered me but she was the families dog also. My Mom who lived with us asked why we would have bought such a dog as Star. Said when we first brought Star home that she could never be allowed inside nor would she ever be a pet. Well Star worked her way into her heart. My Mom would call Star in if she thought it was too cold or hot saying she didn't deserve to be outside with the "dogs". One of the last things my Mom said to  me before she passed away was she was worried about Star.

Your stories ring so many bells--Chelsea was standoffish too at first--just wanted to chase birds--but when they make the decision to be "your dog" it makes it mean even more. 

From what you and sheilak said I wonder if Jasper might have had a ruptured tumor that caused his death in October.  (The vet suggested this as well.)  I just found him dead so I don't know how it took him.
