If you need reassurance, call your vet.

Nallah was pretty sick when she was about 7 months old (ibuprofen ingestion) and spent 3 days and 2 nights at the vet. I was a WRECK, couldn't eat or sleep the entire time she was gone. They didn't know if she was going to live. They told me to call if I needed to talk or just wanted to check up on her....and that was the BEST vet I ever had. Sadly he has moved on and is at a different clinic in another state but he was great.

Dieter is in good hands. We're all pulling for him!! Stay strong!

Just got back from the vet...he still wont hold down food. Still on IV. staying another night! They cant seem to figure it out. They gave him barium(i think thats right) and did x rays. I got to see the x rays and there is no blockage. Everything is flowing fine. So I guess its another day of waiting.

Hard to say....

My childhood lab had parvo as a puppy and had diarrhea, vomitting and severe weight loss. He spent 3 days at the vet.

What were his symptoms exactly and for how long before you took him in?

Have they done a culture. Could be some kind of bacterial infection. I know salmonella almost killed my girl, Belle, when she was about 7 months. They did a culture and were amazed it was salmonella as it does not normally cause dogs problems. Thankfully they were already treating her with a broad spectrum antibiotic. Also, have they done a full blood workup?

Well...he first threw up early friday morning. Im not the kind of guy who immediately starts to worry so we went on with our day. He didnt really want to eat and was a bit lazy so we just waited it out until morning. He made it through the night fine. Later that day he ate some chicken and rice....then even later he went to his food bowl and ate some kibble...He held this down all day until early sunday morning. Sunday he is extremely lazy and is wanting water really bad but every time he drink he throws it up right away. I called the emergency vet line three times sunday but each time they kinda reassure me that he will be fine until the morning. hes does pretty good sunday night because he has nothing in his stomach. I take him to the vet early monday morning and you pretty much know everything after that.

I dont think they have done any kind of blood work but tomorrow i will definitely bring it up with them. I dont know a whole lot about all this health stuff so im kinda just sitting back and letting them do what they think they need to do.

I would also ask them if they have done a stool culture too. That usually takes about 3 days to get the results back, so ask the vet if they think it would be a good idea to start him on a broad spectrum antibiotic as a precaution. The blood work can rule out other issues like liver or kidney issues, infection, etc.

Could Deiter have gotten a bad batch of dog food? Similar to what was going around a few years ago? This is just a brainstorm or wag. If Fin eats the same food and isn't sick, that would rule out the food most likely. Hope he gets better soon.

they eat the same food so that can be ruled out.
