I'm going nuts with all this snow - I like winter time but the snow has such a hard coating of ice on it - you can't go and romp in it - you just stay on top and slide.  Windsor has his yard time but he's not thrilled with sliding on it either.  We still do our walks during the day and my husband plays with him as much as he can in the yard before work but there's not much yard left to play in that isn't ice.  So today off to the dog parked - it was jam packed and I'm thinking - hmmmmm, too many dogs?  Well Windsor went right on in there, and played with dogs of all sizes but ended up hanging out mostly with two large retrievers and a pit.  They were like the big boys of the playground LOL!  I made a new friend - this chocolate lab who discovered all the biscuits in my pocket.  It was icy there too but I think with all the other dogs, he didn't care.  He didn't want to leave and I had a hard time getting him to go home.  He really needed this and I'm going to try to go every weekend.  I will remember to take pics next time - I was a little overwhelmed there with all the dogs and people and trying not to fall down on the ice.  This will be nice for me after work when it gets light out.  I can stop home, get Windsor, stop and get a coffee on the way and go Jeeping to the dog park.

Sounds like a great time and wonderful that you have a nice place to go in the evenings. Can't wait to see pictures the next time you go.

Well this is all a social / exercise thing but he also needs to be trained to hunt and my husband will be training both Windsor and I. I hunted years ago but not with a dog and the only bird I ever got was turkey. I also want to get back into it again and ask my husband when we can start this and he said as soon as all this snow topped with ice melts (you literally can't walk around anywhere to do anything).

I noticed one thing yesterday, at the park, if I called his name, he would acknowledge that but wouldn't come to me - he was so focused on being with the other dogs. He's not that way at home - he always comes when called. So I have to figure out some reinforcement with him in different settings.

Sounds like Bo when he was a pup. We called him the Wal-Mart greeter since he had to say hi to everyone.

I always feel that when Bo was at the dark park if he acknowledged me that was good enough. I figured I was never going to be enough competition for other buddies.

Interestingly, his recall has improved 100% since we got a 2nd dog.

Sounds like a great time!!

We are ready for spring too, its been a harsh winter. We got to get out and enjoy a 45* day today with even a peak of sunshine.

Glad you found a place you can take Windsor and it sounds like he is enjoying it too!

Yeah yesterday was good but I'm going to wait until the sheet of ice melts at the park - we are in for warmer weather this week - actually getting into the 50's - I can only imagine the mess that's gonna make with all the snow but if it melts, I'll be happy - I've had enough until next year. so today was the longest car ride. We took him while running errands....two pet stores which he could go into and was very well behaved. At the first petstore some guy tried walking in with his German Shephard who was NOT people friendly - this dog was really nasty so he had to walk out. Reminded me of a dog that has been tied to a post with a heavy chain and used as a guard dog. Then we went to Starbucks and met someone for a quick coffee and hung around outside. Then back home. He barfed twice but not too bad since he only eats at dinner time now and didn't have much food in his stomach to barf up. Now he is passed out. We just have to keep taking him out to get used to it. We have no problem with him being around people or other dogs, it's just the ride itself. But I think he's doing much better - he doesn't whine at all anymore in the Jeep.
