Here are a few picture from before the hunt. My camera got so cold it kept telling me the battery was dead during and after so unfortunately no pictures.
So we took Gunner and our friend Pete's English Springer Spaniel, Hank out on Saturday. We had a high of about 15 degrees that day. Brrr.
We put up 6/10 birds and got 5. We actually had a pretty good day and the dogs hunted close. Gunner needs some more work, definetly. But in my eyes, getting him out there and getting him birdy is a good thing for him. He had a blast and was a tired puppy when we got home!
We had some "field poachers" who were hunting in 2/3 of our fields and I know for a fact they shot the one hen we treed when she flew off, within about 2 seconds so that was the solidifying fact they were hunting our field and our birds! We were not happy about that!!
But, we actually did better then my future in-laws who only put up 4/10 birds with a seasoned 8 year old wire hair and her guide!
Here are a few pictures I got from before the hunt, a excited and then napping pup on my lap!
The hoody was a human neckwarmer and his Halloween sweater with the arms cut off. He loved it! It was COLD. I had on so many clothes that walking through 6 inches of snow was a chore and add a gun and birds in my vest on top of that, I def got my exercise for the day.
Poor Gun's "intact-ness" was bright red! Poor guy... haha They should make mittens or something for those things.
