I am in the market for a high quality dog collar for Birdie, and need help deciding what size to buy for an adult GSP, I am going to buy a Filson collar and I ordered a brass nameplate from Quillin Tack so it will be a lifetime deal for her and I need suggestions on what size to buy.

Thanks

Tim & Birdie

Some of my boys are 17" others are larger .  My best advice is to wait until he grow a bit before getting a really good collar. JMO but for a field collar I would go with something other than leather, they tend to hold odors.

If you didn't get my PM, send me a PM with your email address.  I'll give you some info on a couple of events coming up after the first of the year that you may be interested in checking out.

One of my girls wears an 18 inch and the other a 20 inch. My boy wears a 22 inch collar. It really varies so I would wait until Birdie is older before buying an adult collar.

The last collar I bought was a Large leather collar from Petco. I think it was like 16-20" He is on the smallest hole, but he's only 9 months. I don't think I'll have to buy anything larger.

Jackie - You might have to buy a bigger one. Ringo's neck really got thicker after he was two. He really muscled out at that point and his 20 inch collars not longer fit him.

Bev, true - he is still pretty scrawny. I can't wait to see him all big and filled out! I used to have to adjust his collars every week or so, now I haven't in weeks!

I love watching him grow up! I need another one now. I keep telling myself he needs a buddy - it's not me wanting another dog. ;)

I diagnose you are seriously infected with shorthairitis. Once bitten by that bug there is no cure except to acquire more shorthairs, and that only last for a short while and then the symptoms will reoccur.

He's 9 months, by the time he is a year or so and I am a little more settled with school/work I'll be starting to look for a new puppy! He was soooo easy though I am scared I'll get a holy terror- hehe.

My buddy Bo just offered me a Vizsla puppy which I would love but am SO not financially ready or mentally/physically for that matter for a puppy that is more high energy then Gunner right now!
