I asked this question on the Upland Journal site but thought I might get a better response here. Sorry to those of you who visit both boards.
Being a novice to the breed I wonder if there is a GSP growth chart available or possible insight from experienced GSP'ers. My pup just turned four months and he looks small to me. Of course I remember thinking the same thing of Oak (Lord of the Labs) who turned out to be an 85lb'er. So I guess what I'm askin is at four months he is 21" to the shoulder and weighs in @ 38lbs is this avg, below avg or above avg?

I think you got pretty good info on UJ Tom. I'm betting he will finish up around 26" and 70-80# give or take a few pounds fully mature and filled out around 2 years. Dollar is 26" and 77#(hunting trim) according to the Vet visit yesterday and if memory serves me well, he was similar to Creek at 4-5 months. Rip, my 7 month old is right around 50-55# now and approx. 22-23", I figure he should end up around 25" and 65-70#. Looking at Creeks background, I think he will show his German roots more and be on the larger side.

Can't help you with a growth chart unfortunately, just too many variables and only generalizations at best.

Money will buy a fine dog, but only kindness will make him wag his tail.

We have 2 DKs.
26" 70-72lbs
25" 70lbs
I don't remember their puppy heights and weights - but they were big.

I think he'll be a bigger boy based on his weight right now. He's 38 lbs at 4 months....Remi just turned 5 months and he was just 30# a week ago.

I'm only expecting Remi to be 55-60 max. He has some pretty small parents. I should get a height measurement on him tonight, I'm guessing he's about 20" as he is pretty close to as tall as my 2 y/o lab Morgan.

Loved by Kelley:
Remi (7/3/2010) GSP
Morgan (5/17/2008) Choco Lab
Nallah (8/6/2006) Black Lab

I think it's his coat and ears that add 5lbs or so.
He looks to have a great coat. (must be that German influence)

Wow that's big.  Glad that I have a female GSP puppy.  She will be 4 months on the 11th of December and she weighs 25 pounds and at the agility trial this weekend, used a wicket to measure her.  She measured in at 13 inches at the withers.  I anticipate that she will be about 22 inches with a weight of about 50 pounds.

I have allot of those dogs in my guys family tree and my guys is about 26" and runs anywhere from 60 to 65 LB, he'll go down to a very slim 60 in the middle of hunting season when we are hunting hard. As you look at the papers you are going to come to the realization that you have a super dog. Anyone who is not a VC is a MH, CH DC it's amazing. I have to look at my guys papers tonight.

I like seeing more and more GSPs geared for the versatile build.
If owners are going to run tests anyway, why not go with a DK. 26" is in the standard.

Not sure I understand what you mean? Versatile meaning fur and feather?

Versatile build meaning height, weight and bone.
