Trego had a freak accident while running with my wife early this morning. Amy said she heard her yelping and when she got to hear she was lying on the ground unable to move her back legs. Amy carried her back to the car and got her in the crate. When she got home Trego was sitting very strangley in the crate with her front legs out and holding weight with her nose on the top of the crate. I help get her to her side and she was in a lot of pain. Amy took her to the vet and he thought she ruptured a disc, but she had no feeling in her back legs and could put no weight on her rear either. He sent her to an orthopedic vet in Columbus after giving her a pain shot. Ortho vet said she should be put down. Amy took her back to our vet in Delaware and was with her as she was put to sleep.
Both vets had never seen this happen to a young healthy dog. Trego lived a very good life and of running, couch sitting, hunting, and loved all 2 legged people that came to our house. She will be missed! |
