NICE!
I can't get my 17 mos olds to stack, let alone 12 weeks...Course, I'm not good at it either so it's the blind leading the blind...

| Very nice. They are both beautiful pups. I can't believe how much they have grown. How does Nitro like the stacking? |

Thanks guys. Bev, Nitro doesn't mind stacking at all, he's a really laid back pup. He stands for exam quite well already even -on the floor, not the table. Miley....she is another story!!!!!! LOL! (doesnt mind stacking, but easily distracted) |

| They look so big compared to Striker at 13 weeks...but it could be that they are on the table and it is a close up....I mess with striker once in a while on stacking but oh my it is so hard to do! You make it look so easy! |

| Splat - I would focus on just the front and reward for a nice front. Make it fun and pleasant, good things come when the front is nice and he lets you position his feet. Later you can start working with the rear. Do the exam separately for now. Just handle the feet, look at the teeth, touch the tail and the cohones, etc when you are watching TV or wherever and reward when they are good. You can put all the pieces together when he starts doing well with the individual pieces. Sorry for hijacking the thread. |

That is good to know to just start with the front...we do a lot of the exam stuff just when hanging out and right now he still thinks it means play... |

Miley is actually on the small side, I am hoping she gets enough size to show as an adult, Nitro is about 20 lbs at 12 weeks, he has a lot of bone, but average size, albeit he had a recent growth spurt and is all legs now!! I will get a pic of Autumn too, she is in between Miley and Nitro in size. The table makes them look larger as well as I zoomed in on them for a better view. When I start stacking, I don't try to place any legs anywhere, just to get them to stand still at first, then I will bait them & get their front under them. Once they get the idea & start holding still better, I get all the legs in place, it took several tries to get these pics, they didn't just hold still perfectly the first time, LOL!! Helps if the camera person is quick with the pics!! |

Thanks, Ann.. they look good, I really like Miley. Marcia,I think they are a bit young to expect perfection yet and just standing still for more than two seconds is close to a miracle... Heard a judge telling a Basset exhibitor with a pup...kind of like stacking a bowl of Jell-o without the bowl. Pretty hilarious. Just work with Striker a few minutes a day...cheese, crackers, popcorn is good 'cause it is slow. Heck my first GSP I baited on strawberries! LOL! The most important thing is it is all about him (no other dogs around) and it is FUN!!! Phyllis and the Singltrak Siblings |

It is funny you mention all legs cuz that is where Striker is now! I don't do it very long at all when I try...just every once in a while I will just work on it for a tiny bit probably no more than a minute...attention spans, LOL! I want to try it on the table once...have not done it yet that way...usually out on the yard when he has gotten a little energy out already....alos we are doing it as his wait for his food but that is more like a stand still than actually trying to set any legs, so I guess that is a good start for things |

| One of the reasons I only focus on the front and getting them to stand still at this age is they are growing so fast and their rears are sometimes long and sometimes short and it makes them have a hard time balancing which is one reason you get them moving and not standing still. So, I fix the front and let them put their back feet where they are comfortable and work on a nice quiet stand. As you say though, only for a few seconds and then release and reward. |
