IMO & from what I've seen through out the yrs, most people/breeders of our breed don't do pen hip but prefer the OFA instead. The reasons are that #1 the pen hip actually stretches the hip joints out to the point that it can damage your dog if not done right to where the OFA is very mild & can even be done while the dog is awake. #2 most of the common people/breeders don't know what all of those numbers mean with the pen hip & with OFA automatically know that a dog is fair, good, ex, etc. I have never gotten pen hip done on any of my dogs nor have I recommended it. I always do the OFA.
