Has anyone made these before and used them? I made batch tonight and am going to just mostly use them as a treat for the dogs. But I just wanted to see if anyone else had ever used them.

I used them last fall to put some weight on Rayne. We had entered several conformation shows and she was just too skinny IMO. I used 1/2 a tennis ball sized satin ball per meal (2 x /day for only 4 days). The weight went on fast and stayed on for a while. She's still thin but not a bone rack anymore.

Yes, but as a weight additive...not as just a treat. They will get to where that is all they will eat if you do that, Beth. I'd put the mixture in gallon baggies and flatten it out and then freeze...10 pounds of hamburger is a lot!

I didn't do 10 lbs of hamburg. I cut it in half. It is all in the freezer except one baggie right now. The one dog I am showing needs some weight for a show next weekend so I was going to give him some of them per day to try to get some pounds on him and then the rest of the dogs let them have a 1" ball or so every other day or ever few days. I rarly feed treets so it isn't like it is going to be something that I am using all the time while teaching tricks. These will be just special treats. When we work on new stuff being taught or stacking or anything like that I use their regular dog food and will continue to do so. Thanks for the feedback. I guess the way I wrote it did make it sound like I was going to use them a lot huh! oops! :0)

I would be very careful with how much you give as it seemed that all of sudden the weight goes on. Good luck at the show!

Thanks Gail. The boy I am showing next weekend hasn’t eaten in over a week as my girl Phoenix was in her prime of her heat cycle. So I need to pack on the pounds with him! LOL. Silly boys! The rest will just get one every once in a while. I am glad to hear they work well though! :0)
