Just seeing if you folks have any advice.

Gunner has started this thing where he will bark at me non-stop. I feel like I've exhausted all my discipline resources. I don't like to put him in his crate for being bad, "No" seems to have no effect, neither does turning my back to him, he just gets closer and barks louder. A squirt bottle and "No" at the same time has been the only effective thing but it's just because he loves him some squirt bottles.  But, I feel like he's not getting that this is a bad behavior.

He's not barking to go out, he's not barking for food, but his barking *IS* making me crazy!

He doesn't do it to my boyfriend or anyone else. Just me. I know it's more then likely just for attention and that he wants to play but this is unacceptable in my eyes.

I am an at a loss!

My dogs have tried this when younger.
Best results I got was to give a command - sit, down or out (of the room)
Maybe he wants to tinkle?

Bo did this to (and still does sometimes) -- mostly it's because I'm not paying attention and HE. WANTS. MY. ATTENTION. NOW!

Since that's not always possible, I am working on getting him to sit in a nice position and be "quiet" before I give him my undivided attention. I try to leave the "quiet" period longer and longer.

When he was a pup, quite often it was because he was tired and he didn't want to settle down on his own. A half hour "time out" in his crate and he was back to normal.

I second pixie, when mine did this at about 5 months old i would do some training so make him sit or down etc. He'd forget he was barking after!

I do the same with Rocky when he gets barky for attention as Pixie and CL66. Do basic commands, followed by the " Hunt it up game" ( Guide Rocky in sit in our bathroom and stay while I go out and hide his dummy. Then I call our release work"OK". Then Rocky zooms around till he find the dummy.) Good game when the weather is cold and rainy outside.

I have tried the commands and it seems to be getting more effective to quell the barking. (thank goodness!) He still does it a whole lot though, especially if I go to use the computer.
