Joey developed this thing on her foot about a week ago, and it doesn't seem to be improving.  Its red and raised up almost like a blister but not.  Should we be worried about this?  Thanks for help.

Try soaking for a few minutes in epsom salts and water. Looks kind of like an ant bite or abrasion that she's now licked on and made more sore.

Ditto Phyllis....lick granuloma by the looks. Also try to keep her from licking at it or it will not heal up......

Could be Ringworm.

Thanks, we will try to keep her from licking and see if it improves.. She did have a minor ankle sprain 1.5 weeks ago so that would probably account for her licking. I had no idea that could cause this kind of sore. much appreciated!

I have seen similar irritations on my dogs feet sometimes when they run in sand, especially wet sand and especially between the toes. I suspect the sand rubs and irritates and then if they lick it too it gets worse. I usually just clean the area good and make sure the dogs don't lick it. If it is particularly bad I may put an antibiotic powder (I have been using Neo-Predef which I get from my vet) on it to help keep it dry and free of infection. Usually clears up in a few days.

To prevent this type of thing just be sure you check their feet often and if running in heavy dirt, sand, etc (stuff that is abrasive or can get between their toes) just be sure you rinse their feet off and then dry them.
