I have a quick question about Rico's stool. Is it normal for him to go twice in one sitting (no pun intended)?  He does this everytime he goes.  Also, the first is solid but the second is runny.  Is there something that I am not doing, I've always owned dogs but I have never seen this.  I am feeding him Purina One puppy, could it be his food?

Thanks

Koda would occasionally have a soft stool after a firmer one until I switched to a grain-free food.

I would take a sample to the vet.  That could be Giardia...

When Hogan was younger I had exactly this problem - there are many posts on here about it! He would do 2, 3 even 4 lots in one "sitting" getting looser as they went on.

I took him to the vet numerous times, got him checked for everything including Giardia. One of the tests came back for Compylobacter - although the vet said that most pup's have it present in their stool that it may or may not be causing his stool "habits".

He was prescribed a course of antibiotics, at the same time I started feeding natural yoghurt and a pro-biotic supplement.

I don't know whether it was the a-b's or the pro biotic but it seemed to clear the problem up. I would definately reccomend feeding natural yoghurt, I still feed it now in one of his meals.

Hogan still has the problem now and again - more notably when he hasn't eaten for a while then has a large meal.

Hope you get it sorted, don't panic, my theory is that it is something they do grow out of.
