I just noticed a lump on our dog's neck today, forward of his right shoulder and below where his collar rides, about the size of a marble and oval. It dosen't bother him and I don't see any type of cut or puncture. He is 15 Mo. old. Also scheduled for a routine Vet Ck. in a couple weeks, I'll keep an eye on it until then.

Any Ideals?

Is is in the skin and kind of loose? Probably a fatty tumor and nothing to worry about unless it starts to grow. I would get it checked when you go to the vet just to be sure.

Raz has one too. I'm going to have the vet take a look at it when we take her in to get spayed in a couple weeks (she is 6 yo).

Yes it seems loose under the skin, A fatty tumor? If so do they go away? what causes them, and to get one at 15 mo. does that seem to young?

Thanks for the info

They don't typically go away. Dogs can get them at any age. They are not typically a problem unless they get big, and most vets will tell you to leave it alone unless it gets big or grows. My girl, Halo, got one at 2 YO and I had it removed when she went in to get her teeth cleaned.

Very well could be a hematoma also, he could have just whacked himself against something running/playing. If it is, it will resolve on it's own in a few days.

Your vet can do a needle aspiration as well to tell you what it is.

Daniel has had a couple of fatty growths removed. I got them biopsied for my own peace of mind, all of them were benign thank goodness!

Back when I was single, and had no real financial obligations, I had a cocker spaniel who would get many fatty tumors. One in particular would drain a brownish fluid. I had many of them removed. Kaiser, our dearly departed GSP had a few too, which developed as he got older. Having had experienced them years before, I never worried about them, and didn't have them removed.

If it is soft and moves a little, more than likely a hematoma.  Maple got those quite often as a puppy until she was about 1 as she did not know how to walk anywhere, only run to keep up with the two older labs, and had no regard for anything in her way.  She now has one on her right hip that is starting to go away, it has been there about a week.  But, of course, while you are at the vet, have them check it out.

Had him at the Vets last night, He didn't do much more then feel it and said to try Benadryl for about a week to see if it goes away. It seems like it is going down though, If not he said we will look at removing it. He pretty much is in high gear all the time playing with our Lab so I quess he could have ran into something.

Thanks

I had a lump on my Wires neck.  You could move it so vet said just wait and see..About 6 mo later it grew inflammed so he removed it. It was a seed from the grasses...Guess it decided to start moving when he took it out.
