Hello,

My family and I adopted Terra from Kerr County Animal Control on July 30, 2010.  Our vet thinks she is just about 4 months old, and other than being underweight when we got her she seems healthy.  We thought she was a lab mix, but I have started thinking she may be a GSP mix.  Her tail is thinner than a lab's, and she is a very dark brown.  She actually looks black unless she is in good light.  I have never seen a GSP in person, but her color seems closer to their brown than a chocolate lab's.  Her coat is beautiful.  Even having been malnourished, it has remained shiny and smooth.  The hair is very short, to the extent that if you looks at it on certain parts of her body at the right angle you can see her skin, particularly on her cheeks, lower legs, and ears.  I would just like some of your opinions on whether or not she seems to have some GSP in her.

Thanks,

Terra and Family

beautiful dog! shes definitely got GSP in her... look at those eyes. Her head shape isn't GSP, they have longer muzzles and a thinner face so they can open their mouth wider to carry game. Maybe some lab in the mix

Her weight looks pretty good to me and her coat looks great. My GSP shows a lot more ribs than that.

Hmmmm, I would almost say she has some Shar-Pei in her with her muzzle/body shape or Pitt/labX, really don't see much GSP. Very cute pup.

What a cutie.
With all the pits I see around me she definitely looks like one.
The color, I don't think, is a GSP color.
No matter, quality is in mental stability and bonding, not breed.

Have fun with her,
Francine

Francine, could this not be liver? Not dark enough?

I am not sure about the pit in there, if so, very diluted. My guess would be a combo of lab mix with gsp, quite possibly. Hard to say though. Regardless, I think this dog is beautiful. Share some pics with us when the dog is fully grown, maybe then it's easier to tell.

I'm certainly no expert, but she does look like at least some gsp to me. The 3rd photo reminds me of my dog Jenny's body. Especially the long back legs, skin flap between body and back leg and her tail. Does she hold her tail up and does it curl up over her back? The nose is brown (based on my red-green color blind eyes). Could be some kind of hound mixed with a liver gsp? Since she is still a pup, that might confuse the features as they may not be fully filled out.
Anyway, great name. I adopted my Terra from a shelter in May 2007. She was probably a gsp/lab mix. She ran off at the end of June 2008. I have no idea of her fate. She was the best dog.
Thank you for adopting!!!

I have to go with Francine....doesn't look like very much GSP if any. The head is more Pit mix, and overall body type could be lab and pit mix. She's very cute...just love her and take care of her!
