Walking & talking now, started on cereal last night, playing a lot & starting to meet the other dogs. They had just played a long while & eaten, so some were out like lights, but they held still, LOL!!
He's trying hard to stay awake........

| So, so cute! Still love the one flashy male and of course Snow White. I don't know what you are naming her, but that is the way I think of her. She is about as Snow White as a shorthair gets. They are all adorable. Love the pictures of the big dogs meeting the babies. |

Bev, the L&W male?? He's very cute, quiet pup, happy to lay on his back & play with his feet. Mz "Snow White" however, she is gonna be BAD, LOL!! Already into everything, beating on other pups & last night after their "cereal dip" when I was washing her off with a baby wipe -which she didn't like- she growled at me!!!! She didn't think she needed a bath. She has caught my eye already with her attitude...........a real pistol already. Sweet looking lil girl in the 4th pic......she is too.
I got them toys today, was squeaking one and Mz white was barking at it........to funny!!! Oh, her name is going to be Super Snap whether she stays or goes, "Snap" fits her as she is so fiesty (: |

| Anne I was talking about the one in pic #2, the one that looks like he has a coat on. Love his markings and color. He does look like he will be darker than some of the others, but just a pretty boy (I think he is a boy). |

Jeez they are cute Anne, gives me puppy fever SO BAD! From your description, I can already tell you that Snow White would be my favorite. The problem child is the best field trial prospect. Somewhere I have a photo of Willow hanging by her front legs off the top rack of the dishwasher licking the glasses at age 5 weeks. Knew she was going to be a pistol!

Snap (Snow White) will even stand out at FT's I think!! Pup #4 was REALLY being a pistol tonight, she is small, but she is mighty!! Boy was she whomping on her bigger brothers. Next cpl weeks will be fun watching their personalities come through. (:
So far, solid liver head boy is quiet and sweet, Snap & lil Bit as I cal her now (pup#4) are the fiestiest, as well as the hot ticked male. The L&W male is playful, but quieter & happy to lay on his back in your arms playing with his front feet. Female in pic 3 with the ring tail is an explorer & playing with toys a lot already. Her, Snap and female #2 would not go to bed tonight after they ate & played a bit, stayed up a good 30 minutes after the rest fell asleep, had them out running about the house, LOL. |

In my experience, the other two good indicators for field trial prospects are: 1. the last one still out poking around and exploring consistently after everyone else has crashed 2. the first one to understand playing - with toys or organizing play games with the litter
In the litter Thunder and Willow came out of (both now FC/AFC and MH), Thunder was always #1 and Willow was both #2 and the problem child.

I agree with with the "prospect" theory. When looking for dogs that will perform excellent in water work you need the boldness,independence and intelligence, w/o these you have a so-so water search dog. While many are impressed with so-so -
I am bored. I'm sure you feel the same way about a FT dog.
The white dog is flashy but I am a fan of darker dogs. I like the looks of picture 3.They all look great. Puppy fever is upon me.
Looking forawrd to hearing about them.

I also like the look of the dark dogs better, but for field trials, that all white girl will be a LOT easier to see. Easier on the scout for sure and also easier for the judges to keep in sight. That's a lot of why we have ended up with mostly white dogs. |

You guys are exactly right, I prefer the bolder more assertive pups. Easier to train for anything, can take corrections better, no need to worry about "going down" if they get frustrated training. (and I dont mean whoopin on, I dont do that period)
Snap, girl 4 & a cpl others are already carrying toys about, escaping their pen - yesterday had 2 loose in the AM, now they stay in big pen all night. If Snap hears a strange noise, she goes to it or barks, her color makes me watch her, yes, but her attitude takes the cake!! I own all dark dogs currently myself & have always preferred them as well. Hopefully in the next 2 weeks I will start narrowing down who will stay..... |
