Totally unrelated but when our cat was 1.5 yo was REALLY sick. Took her to the vet -- her spleen was the size of a large dog's spleen. That`s all they could figure out was wrong with her -- no other explanation. They wanted to do a bone biopsy, we said no. If she`s that sick we`ll keep her comfortable and we`ll let her go with dignity. They sent us home with some prednisone (for inflammation). After a week of force feeding her wet cat food, suddenly she turned the corner. She is now 11 yo. Vets never did figure out the problem (although we think she drank the water from some roses my husband gave me -- that had preservative in it -- and that she knocked over).

Fingers crossed you have a similar miracle.

Thoughts and prayers are being sent out to you. Hope the transfusions help.

Unreleated, but years ago, I had a cocker who developed a nose bleed. It turned out that he had a low red blood cell count, and virtually no platelets. I was told it was due to some sort of autoimmune disease. After about 5 days at the vets, I don't remember exactly how he was treated, and of course a large vet bill, his blood counts went back up.
