Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions on what type of brush is best for removing loose hair from GSPs.  Mo has been shedding like crazy and I haven't been able to find a brush that really works well to remove the shedded hair.

I've had some luck rinsing her off in her pool outside, but there is still a lot of hair left behind.

I'm sure I won't be able to get off of the loose hair, but I wanted to see if anyone had any pointers.

Thanks,

Bill

A furminator works very well. Pulls out lots and lots of hair. They are available in many places. You can Google the name and see who carries one.

sorry i couldn't resist!!

Mine are shedding like mad too, and i'm stumped other than bathing them which they hate.

I use a horse grooming mitt. It works perfectly and they love it. Example below. you can find at any feed and tack store and they are cheap.

As a warning, the furminator doesn't work AT ALL on Joey.......... So I wouldn't recommend.  She does shed quite a bit but when you pull it over her coat nothing comes out. She has a really shiny coat from her sardines and fish oil once a week. Not sure if thats the reason or not.

The furminator on our cat on the other hand is out of control. We filled up a quart freezer bag with hair in one session with the cat.

Furminator works here. But I may try one of those tack mitts. May be nice when bathing them.

Thanks for the advice. I have a dog mitt that I use with I wash her down, but I'll have to see if the horse mitt works better. I'm gonna give the furminator a try and see how it goes.

CL66, I realized that I had opened myself up for that one as soon as I submitted my comment :)

Another here that swears by a furminator, or a horse curry comb !
