| Another quick question. When we take Bentley to meet other dogs, some his age and some older (we go to a doggy play/socialisation school) he is by FAR the most boisterous dog there. Trying to jump on the other dogs and bite their ears etc. It's all very playful and he doesn't hurt etc but i was wondering, are all GSP's this boisterous and energetic? |

Blitz my 1 yr old has tons of energy and runs and jumps and will bark to get the other dogs to run with him...Donner my 6 month old is more of the wrestler and ear biter but he has learned that most dogs don't like that so he really only does it to Blitz... As for measuring it is easier to stand them next to a wall and using a pencil put a mark on the wall where there shoulder is and then use what ever to measure the height....it might be easier to tape 2 pencils together so you can rest it on the shoulders and reach the wall.... |

When Rocky was 15 months old, we took our first beginning manners class around 7 pm in the evening. I would request off from my work on class day so I could run the pants off Rocky so he would be good in class. It did work. The dog trainers were happy and highly advised me to keep it up with Rocky.( Run the pants off of Rocky before any training). Rocky is 27 inches at the withers (shoulders) and weighs for the past 2 years between 75lbs-80lbs. Every 6 to 8 weeks Rocky goes to the Vet for a nail trim and a weight check So we can make adjustments in feeding if needed living in a 4 season state. Rocky runs. hunts and exercises best at 30 to 40 degrees!! Summer is not the best time for a Northern GSP unless swimming in water. For the newer forum members, a few years ago Rocky weighed 94lbs, came down with Pancreatitis. A hard long lesson learned which triggered us to make some major dietary changes. Alot of help and support we got from this forum that helped us get where we are today. Thank You!! |

Ok 26" at the withers, 30KG which is 4.5 stone or 66lbs. I guess he doesn't have much more growing to do, I thought he'd grow more as he's only 8.5 months but we'll see. I'll try to run him ragged before the next class, see how he is then. Nice to know it's not just me then!! |

I like the skinny picture.
So that isn't too skinny? I haven't seen enough of these dogs in person to know what they should look like....I have had my horse since she was 4 and now she is 23 and I have always had a hard time getting weight on her and people always make comments about how she is too skinny, so I just get freaked out about to little weight...I know they say that seeing 1 to 2 ribs is good, but I thought he was more 3 and maybe 4 ribs showing....
It is super crazy how just 4-5 pounds can make them look so different... |

This picture was taken fourth of July weekend. I am feeding Koda 4 cups a day of Orijen, though she doesn't always finish it, and she finally surpassed the 40 pound mark. She was 41.6 pounds when I weighed her the other day. You can still see some ribs, but it seems like she has filled out a bit and is starting to look like an adult dog at almost 14 months old. Last I measured her height she was 22".

Phil: 30kg? That is 66 lbs. For 7 months, that sounds like a lot, but his picture shows a lanky teenager so I guess just wait and see where it ends LOL. Tessa weighs 50 lbs at 2 years old. |

| Well Ringo is finally filling out. He is a big boy, every bit 25 inches at the withers. He weighs about 65, but I expect that to go up more as he is still putting on muscle. |

I am pretty sure I am in for a big guy. 12 weeks tomorrow and 26.2 lbs. Vet said all muscle and looking very good. Still has the full wrinkly face. I wonder if that will remain? His litter mates all had narrow snouts. Guinness seems to have the expressions of an old man. |
