This week we've had a lot of snow, and fog with no wind creating this great "Winter Wonderland" look.

Great for taking a dog out for a good workout run in the snow. Next will be to try and get him to pull me on the skis. First perhaps we would have to work on him taking a more direct route around the golf course. But we still have alot of fun out in the snow together.

You got that right ACE, I absolutely love taking pictures of GSP's and other dogs in the snow. My big snow pic dream is exactly what Juno captured!!! Waking up in the morning to fresh snow with every bare branch on all the trees blanketed with snow!!! AWESOME!!! I just measured the snow depth in our front yard and got 14 inches in some areas and 17 inches in other areas. So this has been a fantastic year for snow pics and having our GSP's have fun plowing through it. This winter is the greatest because all our snow. And yes, I do feel sad for those who live in warm climates and cannot experience the beauty of the white stuff. Happy New year !!!!

I agree with you Marie! It makes everything look new and fresh. Then after about 3 days my GSPs have the whole yard tracked up. They get so hyper and chase each other all over the place. Abbey was fun while she was with us because she was so tall that it wasn't hitting her belly. She was kind of clumsy as she hadn't grown used to those long legs yet. I like the snow when it bends down the limbs on the pine trees too. Only bad thing with that is if it's the heavy wet stuff we usually lose power. I love that pic of Rocky with his rear all up in the air it is so funny. Mocha and Belle get atleast one mouse a day out of the yard. They're sacked right now as Mocha and Doddi and my boy(Matt) and I went grouse hunting. Today was the last day of the season. Snow was about knee deep and we went like ten miles through the hills then swamps. They had a blast too. Now we are ALL going to sack out. Got 2 birds too! Have a great New Year. We're due for 6-8 inches more snow tonight!!

We have had quite a bit of snow and the mountains have lots of it. Pretty in the winter and it means we can have green lawns next summer. At Christmas we had the frosted trees and it made it very festive.

Beautiful snow pictures, I just wish I could say I loved the snow. But when you have a day like the one in Juno pictures then I love winter. This year hasn't been too bad snow wise, but it has been bitter cold. I have been taking the girl's out on the snow shoe trail in the woods. I think the snow is deeper in the yard then out in the woods/field. The girl's pointed and flushed 2 rough grouse in the field.

Juno's top 3 pics are awesome capture a complete winter wonderland snow scene!!! The dog and the person walking are a part of the scenic view and not the center of attention. My eyes ride across the snow field and end gazing in the snowy branches of the tree line!! My 3 pictures today and yesterday involves how a GSP reacts in 3 different snow invironments, 3 different times of the day. Main focus is on the dog with the background complimenting the action of the moment. Snow can be so fun creating entirely new atmospheres in our backyards and fields and woods...Fun too that your girls pointed 2 rough grouse in the snow field!!! That would be a great live action GSP picture, but so hard to snap at the exact moment the birds flush up. Another dream picture I would love to capture.

Okay you can stop with the winter wonderland crap. (Just kidding) We made a flying trip to Iowa to take my mother to Mayo this past week. Started back yesterday in dense fog on icy roads. Near Sioux City saw a picture I would have loved to take if not on the highway. Frosty white trees with a bright red barn---beautiful as long as I am in a car heated to 73 degrees. I know that for you hearty midwesterners anything aboove 0 is a heat wave but I of the thin blood prefer at least 40. Love to see pictures of dogs in the snow though.

What beautiful tulips. I keep reminding myself that the days are getting longer. I think it just seems colder in the midwest because of the humidity. I am however very thankful for the wonderful Mayo Clinic in Rochester.

Is the upside down pot a home for a Toad?  I would love to have a big old toad in my garden.

Yes the upside down pot is a home for a toad!! We have many toads and some frogs that frequent our gardens and ponds!! I take many flower pictures keep them in one folder so I can send them to my e-mail friends when they need cheering up in the winter. We are gettimg another 5 inches of snow over night and it was just beautiful coming out from work at 11:30 tonight. White and bright!!!
