This morning I noticed Rugers hair was looked thin & when I pulled on it it all came out & was red underneath almost like a blister, about the size of a 50 cent, I then pulled more hair & there is 3 spots, all on his shoulder. Hot Spots??? H has been rubbing along the couch & was moaning this morning, but that is not unusual for him, LOL He is a DRAMA KING. We do not have a full time vet & I have an appt for Thursday, but everything I read about hot spots says it is usually long hair dogs etc. It has not been that hot, very humid, mid 70's, I use no flea collar, no front line etc. & he has only been in the house for the last 4-5 days. He does have allergies, he can't have a distemper booster, certain foods make him puke, etc. I put hydrocotorzone on it. Any Ideas??

Those look like hot spots.  I haven't tried it, but another dog person recommended Chris Christensen's Peace & Kindness for hot spots.  Here is a link: www.chrissystems.com/peace.htm

Hot spots!!! Could be he got bit by a bug that triggered it, developing an allergy to food he is on or a plant/weed in the yard....hard to tell w/o allergy testing......good luck! Might want to give him a good bath in a hypo allergenic shampoo (no dyes, perfumes) & then put some neosporin on them.

I've also used a spray called Gentcocin (spelling?) that I've got from the vet for hot spots that seemed to work well when my Chow Chow would get them. One flea bite and she'd be a mess of sores.

Hot spots are fairly easy to treat. Clip the hair around them and keep it clean and dry. You may want to try tea tree oil, or a product containing it (there are shampoos and sprays, Petsmart usually has a good selection). They are safe to use on him even if there are no hot spots.

We used Sulfodene in the early 90s on a bulldog that had hot spots in te summer...can't remember how well it worked but it must have, because I remember that bottle well...

It was hot spots, she said I did everything right, clipped the hair put on anti-itch, etc. Thanks everyone!! She said it is probably because he has allergies, but that it was healing good so no antibiotics.
