I'm starting to get worried about Jasper. He hasn't really eaten his regular meals in a couple days, and this is a dog that will eat absolutely anything at any time and usually wolfs down his food like he may never get fed again. He has taken treats from my hand, without much enthusiasm, but won't touch his regular food. My other dog is still eating normally, so I tend to doubt that it's a bad bag of food. We took him to the vet for a full physical, and the vet didn't find anything wrong at all.

I noticed last night that when he went to pick up a pine cone from the ground, he let out a little yelp, but pushed and prodded all over him without any reaction at all. I've looked in his mouth too, and pushed on all of his teeth without any reaction from him. I'm baffled, and starting to get worried.

I'd try a different food and see if that sparks some intrest. Maybe something in the other food isn't agreeing with him, but is ok for your other dog. Possibly he got an upset stomach after he ate and is now reluctant to try the same food that he's connecting with not feeling well.
Will he eat some cooked chicken and rice if offered?

Stools normal and no vomiting???
He could have hurt his jaw playing, or his neck. Try bending his head up and down (gently of course) and see if you can get a reaction. Give him an aspirin and see if that helps, then you know it was an injury of some sort. Try to get him to eat a little of something first though.

I would try fixing him some chicken or hamburger and rice to see if he will eat. Then I agree with zodiak, see if you can get a reaction and if you do an aspirin should help, but only if he is eating too.

Well, I did the chicken and rice and he ate some of it, reluctantly. Yesterday he ate most of his food though, and this morning he wolfed it all down, so it seems like he's back to normal. I did notice that he had some pretty runny stool on Saturday, so perhaps he just had a stomach virus.

Thanks for all the advice.

where are you located? I noticed Bo's appetite has been kind of hit and miss over the last week -- there could be a number of factors, but I know the heat definitely makes Bo less interested in eating ...

I'm in north-central Idaho. Heat hasn't really been an issue here yet.

Sometimes I think Bo just gets in a mood too ... always a good idea to keep an eye on them ... and especially make sure they are drinking.

Good to hear he's feeling better.

Yeah, he got better just as my two year old son came down with a fever. If it isn't one thing, it's another.
