This can be a thread where we can post birthday pictures of our GSP furkins on their special Day, their birthday.  Today is December 28th and the birthday of 2 GSP's  who are members on this board. Daisy, who is 2 years old today and my GSP Rocky who is 6 years old today. If you have a rescue GSP and do not know the birth-date of your dog, you can make up a date or use your adoption date as you GSP's Birthday.  So here is Rocky after 3 1/2 hours of retrieving dummies in Wisconsin snowy fields on his 6 year old birthday

Thanks Marie.  Hope Rocky had a good Birthday.  Daisy got a pig ear and 3 new squeaky toys, she loves to make them squeak!!  I found some baby pictures of her.  Here is Daisy at 5 months:

Daisy is a sweet honey girl and an absolute adorable pup from her baby pictures!!!! She has an all liver sweet face face with a hint a white top of her snout above her liver nose.(similar to Rocky) Also love her big liver circle patches on her back and side. Soo happy Daisy had a great birthday and enjoyed her pigs ear and sqeaky toys. Thank you for sharing a few of her puppy pictures. Bet it is hard to believe she is 2 years old already!!!

Rocky's TV is a 27" Sharp. It is not HD so we will probably have to upgrade in a few years!!! Also in the background is Rocky's 55 galllon Gold fish tank. He loves to watch them as he chews bones on his soft white rugs.

We had a party for my oldest GSP, Belle.  She was 4 years old last Sept and these are a couple of pictures from her party.  I made the cake (carrots, peanut butter, honey, whole wheat flour, etc.).  It was pretty good and both our girls loved it.

The birthday girl is on the right with the ear flipped back.

This is Belle enjoying her cake.

Her little sister Halo enjoyed the cake too.

Here is the recipe for the Birthday Cake:

K-9 Birthday Cake

1 cup white or whole wheat flour (I used whole wheat)

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 cup peanut butter (I used natural creamy)

1/4 cup cooking oil

1 cup shredded carrots

1 teaspoon vanilla

1/3 cup honey (optional) (I used the honey, but I bet you could also use molasses.)

1 egg

Mix the dry ingredients.  Add the remaining ingredients and mix quickly.  Bake in a greased ring mold (I used a Bundt pan) at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.  You may frost this cake with low fat cottage cheese and decorate with some carrot pieces. Store in the refrigerator.

My dogs loved  this cake, and it was easy to make.  Don't expect it to rise much.

Thank you sooo much Texas Belle for the K-9 Birthday Cake recipe. My best friend's dogs are both having a birthday next month (Jan 7th &Jan 15th. So I will bake this cake around then and invite her 2 dogs over with Rocky and have a great party. It will be a big surprise to all of them and should be alot of fun. Don't have to worry about the Wisconsin weather as they live right across the street.... Rocky says "Thank you Bean for wishing me a happy birthday and would love to share Birthday cake with you!!! Love, Rocky

FYI
I was just looking on AmericanGreetings.com ( haven't been there in quite awhile )
ANYhow...In the create and print section, they have Hats/ garland/ all sorts of fun stuff, you can personalize
Birthday hats with the PUPSTER's name on them would be a great addition to the party ?????
I'm keeping that in mind for Bean's birthday

Did anyone ring in the new year with their GSP? Mine all had a little nip of champagne right at Midnight. I think Mocha is a lush though. She went back and cleaned out everyone else's dish.

We were going to, Gunner had a little beer but Ruger & Tucker wouldn't touch it. Just when we were wondering if we could stay awake until 12 the fire pager [ my husband & myself are with the Fire Dept. ]  went off. Nobody was home but they lost everything, young family with 2 small kids. It was a trailer house & when they catch on fire they go in a matter of minutes. Sad any time, but on New Years Eve makes it even worse. They had no insurance. I know it hard but if young people would only realize how important Insurance can be.  Well I missed the ball drop on TV, took a shower to wash the smoke smell off & going to bed.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY GSP FRIENDS!

Molly will stalk anyone with a beer can or bottle---like a good German she loves it. There was a time that I loved a good New Year's Eve party but since I seldom drink anymore it is not as much fun to be around a lot of people who are. I hate to leave Molly sitting around by herself all night.

Marie

Good picture at the top. I can even identify the plecostemos in the fish tank. We used to have a tank with tree frogs which would chirp all night. Kept the dog interested.

Thank you Pointer Fan for identifying our plecostemos fish. He really keeps my tank clean. He was a pond fish, but when my friend closed down her pond a few years ago, she had to find a home for him and I was the only one she knew who had a 55 gallon tank. So we took him in and he has been living with my original plecostemos  fish in harmony. You can see the size difference. Rocky has been great with our aquarium and just glances up once in awhile at the fish swimming. So here is a closer look  at Rocky's fish!!!!

Are fish tanks as relaxing for pointers as they are for people. We had a large plecostemos that died and my son threw it out the window on to the snow covered garage roof. I noticed it when dusting the windowsill and Ron had to go out and retrieve it.
