For those who have had pups in the past what did you do for your vaccination schedule. Did you do 5 and 8 weeks or 6 and 9 weeks? So many different options!

Thanks!

I'm in Canada so maybe we're different but my puppies get only 1 set of vaccines while they're with me.  They go to the vet during their last week here which is just before they turn 8 weeks old.  I get her to thoroughly examine each one. She checks that the boys have 2 testicles, listens to their hearts, checks eyes and ears and just goes over them for me. Then, they get thieir first set of vaccines. The second set is 4 weeks after this and then rabies at 16 weeks.

I agree with Gail on one immunization at 8 weeks.  I'd check out the vaccination protocols at Jean Dodds website or those with the vet schools.  Dave Nauer may have more info, but the new schools of thought are that mom's immunities will override the immunities if shots are given too early.  If your vet uses Progard 5 or even the Progard recombinant there are normally three given, at 8-12 and 16 weeks.  Just be careful about letting pups out in public before they finish up that series, take your Clorox/water and spray your shoes and spritz your hands when coming in from public areas also...

Having a new 10 week old pup at home to interact with the adults (who get their feet into everything) does bring a few chills and is keeping this crew off the show/trail trail for another five weeks.
