I suspect it is just something he ate. Ringo did that to me all the time. I kept Pepto and Immodium liquid around just for him. When he came up with the squirts from something he ate, I would start dosing him, and it always cleared right up within 24 hours. It is good though to have the stool checked for bacteria as pups are susceptible to things adult dogs handle. I almost lost Belle to Salmonella when she was about Hogan's age. Salmonella is in the ground and is even present in the dogs gut. The adults have an immunity, but pups can have problems with it. Belle's system was weakened by a food allergy that we had not yet identified. Thankfully, the vet sent off a culture and then started her on a broad spectrum antibiotic. She didn't expect to find anything, but we did. The broad spectrum antibiotic slowed down the spread long enough to get the results back. Belle was switched to a different antibiotic which cleared up the problem within 24 hours. She was in the vet hospital though for a couple of days on IV fluids because of the dehydration. So, you are doing the right things being cautious.

Aww poor boy...You might want to try switching to a grain free kibble. Grain is one of the leading causes of allergies in dogs.

Woodrow had some problems with loose stools when he first came home and when we changed dog foods. We've been putting a couple of tablespoons of plain yogurt on his food and we haven't had anymore problems with the loose stools.

So an update. All the good advice worked, so thanks guys!

I have changed foods to one I feel it a better "quality" food.

Secondly, I have been adding natural live yoghurt to his food.

Thirdly, I added a pro biotic supplement (Prozyme).

Anyway the result - we have had rock hard stools for a week now!
