I like the obedience classes and so do my dogs, so I stick with them on a regular basis. I am lucky that I have a training center near where I live that lets me pay a flat fee for the number of dogs I am training and just pick the class I want to go to. They also have everything from puppy socialization, to formal puppy obedience, all the way to competition level obedience at the open and utility levels. So as my dogs advance I can switch to the next level of class. Yes, I could train all I needed to at home, but the class gives me access to an instructor as Tessa pointed out, and it is one more different environment to train my dogs in. It is also the closest to the chaos of a dog show I get before actually going to a dog show. The training center also has rally and conformation classes too.
