Yesterday, just before leaving for work, I let Gator out of the patio door, and watched him immediately run to the fence, where he caught a squirrel running on the 4 foot high chain link fence, He shook it, killed it, and then dropped on the ground. Thank God he didn't want to bring it to the door. Since I was freshly showered and had my uniform on, I didn't want to deal with it then. So when I returned home this a.m., the first thing I had to do was scoop up and disposed of another squirrel cadaver. About once a month, I have to discard of a dead squirrel or rabbit that he has killed. |

| Oscar has racked up 2 big woodchucks, 3 rabbits, a few brids, and a garter snake. All in my fenced in yard. There is nothing better to eat in my yard than in the field behind my house, but these animals continue to force their way past the fence. I once let Oscar out with a rabbit in the yard and the rabbit proceeded to run full speed into the fence and bounce about 10 yards backwards over the dog. |

5 big fat opossums 4 white wing doves 3 fast squirrels 2 nasty rats and a garter snake too Sounds like a Christmas song. Just goes with owning a shorthair or 2 or 3. |

| Mine hunt like a pack of velociraptors, especially when going after squirrels which are fast, but they always, always bring me the prize. |

lol Tyler had had so far... 2 bunnies 6 small snakes 1 mole 2 squirrels 1 bird in flight. He just ran jumped up and grabed it out of the air. I was amazed he could do that. I never know what he is going to get next. |

Nope... he doesn't eat his kills. They are all gifts for "Mommy" which is gross and I don't know why he doesn't give them to his dad but he waits til I get home and brings them to me. Other than the bird in flight, which he brought to me still alive, but injured. So I had to do the deed |

| Mine always bring them to me. The birds are usually still alive, but injured. The fur critters and other critters are always dead. |

Daniel brings them to me and then eats them (and he always prances in pride when he shows off), but Layla just eats them. I actually had to teach Daniel that "chippies go OUTside" because he loves coming in the dog door and showing off his latest catch (all dead things are chippies because most of them have been chipmunks). |

| Koda almost got a bird that was either wounded or caught off guard. I called her off it because we were walking toward our friend's house and didn't want to have to explain why we came bearing a gift of a dead bird. Under other circumstances should I let her try to kill a bird if she can get it? I have also called her off deer because I don't want her chasing them and getting too far away from me or having them accidentally kick her and cause injury. |

Dax so far is at 0. Although I saw the other day how he could eventually be a killer, there was a groundhog in the clover field....luckily he was on a leash, he was choking himself though trying to get to the critter. Im not going to encourage him, but if he got a few of the groundhogs that eat the garden I wouldnt be terribly upset Will they try to go after things like cats if they try to kill other critters? How can you avoid them becoming cat sharp? |

| They will be cat sharp unless they are raised around cats. I have two cats and mine play with my two cats and leave them alone otherwise. Now if a neighbors cat comes in the yard it is open hunting season as far as the dogs are concerned. So, mine are also selective with cats. |

| Koda was raised with our cat Wiley, and it took some time, but they get along fine. Koda will bite playfully at Wiley's legs, but I know she won't hurt him, and he will smack her on the head when she's being too rough. Koda has also been around my mom's cat Tabitha and wants to play with her, but the cat wants none of that. It takes a bit for the cats to feel dominant enough to stand up the pup and not run away. If they run, there will be a chase. |

| I was just wondering because he's going to be getting alot of cat experience over the summer, our neighbors (aunt and uncle) have a big pool...most of our summer days are spent over there. They have I believe 10 cats! (luckily her cats are big and nasty to the dogs...they adopted a dog that was a confirmed cat killer, she heard commotion the one day and 4 of her cats had the dog cornered and apparently teamed up on him. Ever since then he's been great with cats) |
