Which do you suppose is worse, an adolescent human or an adolescent canine?

I have one of each at the moment. They have both forgotten everything they have ever been taught, they both completey ignore me and they are both seriously trying my patience. I keep telling myself "be firm, be consistant, be firm, be consistant" but keep reminding myself not to kill one or both of them - LOL

I honestly don't know which is worse.....although I suppose the canine can't answer me back whereas the human can and does.

I wonder if I can put the human on a long leash aswell......now, there's a thought

Adolescent human hands down! Try having a 15 year old screaming in your face that you are ruining her life... at least Hogan will never do that (I hope!)

Kids are worst! I often tell my kids the dogs listen better!

I guess it depends on the kid and the dog :) Regardless, adolescence sucks!

At least kids grow up and move out!
Kids are for sure much worse, especially girls.
Don't you miss when they were 3 years old and they wanted to cuddle in the mornings and were bubbling over with - I LOVE YOU MOMMY

Now they have to deal with social crap at school and ya know - other families are really messed up - I tell my 15 year old son - everyone comes from a disfunctional
family - try and make friends with the kids who come from a lesser level of disfunction.

Teach them correctly, with a lot of repititions and consistently - hey, like my dog training advice- and hope for the best.Communication IS the key.

You know what Emily-my 7 year old said to me this morning? (I was crushed. )Please don't walk me in school and don't give me a kiss mommy, just take my hat and give me a hug.

Francine

I hope for the best a lot of the time... I wonder sometimes where the light at the end of the tunnel has gone? hehe!

This one is easy:

You can't put an ecollar on a teenage human - or at least Child Protective Services won't look kindly on it.

Therefore, the adolescent dog is much easier.

"just take my hat and give me a hug?" Priceless!

At least dogs are less specific...

I had a good laugh at this thread this morning especially the thought of an ecollar on a kid. OMG people would freak wouldn't they. Of course, they freak if you spank a kid these days. I think the dogs are easier though. I often get the comment, "Your dogs are so well behaved, better than my kids."

I have both.. the human is by far the worst!!!... The dog grows out of it quicker.. the dog still loves you and adores you and does not scream at you... And well if the dog does get out of control there is an E collar, kennel or ship to a trainer... As for the kid.. other than military boarding school the rest of the other dog options are seriously frowned upon by Child protective services

*God gave us kids as babies so we would put up with them as adolescents...
He gave us adolescents so we would want to let them go and become adults.

Why do you think adulthood is so long?

to get over our childhood.

I have no kids and I WANT no kids by the sounds of this!

On another note, i'm 28 and I still give my mommy a kiss and a cuddle whenever I can! :D

Not to derail, but thought this funny:
Had to share this.......If you have kids, this is a LOL one for sure!!!!

To those of us who have children in our lives,
whether they are our own,
grandchildren,
nieces,
nephews,
or students...
here is something to make you chuckle.

Whenever your children are out of control,
you can take comfort from the thought that
even God's omnipotence did not extend
to His own children.

After creating heaven and earth,
God created Adam and Eve.

And the first thing he s aid was
"DON'T! "

"Don't what? "
Adam replied.

"Don't eat the forbidden fruit."
God said.

"Forbidden fruit?
We have forbidden fruit?
Hey Eve..we have forbidden fruit! "

" No Way! "

"Yes way! "
"Do NOT eat the fruit! "
said God.

"Why ? "

"Because I am your Father and I said so! "
God replied,
wondering why He hadn't stopped
creation after making the elephants.

A few minutes later,
God saw His children having an apple break
and He was ticked!

"Didn't I tell you not to eat the fruit? "
God asked.

"Uh huh,"
Adam replied.
"Then why did you? "
said the Father.

"I don't know,"
said Eve.

"She started it! "
Adam said.
"Did not! "
"Did too! "

"DID NOT! "
Having had it with the two of them,
God's punishment was that Adam and Eve
should have children of their own.

Thus the pattern was set and it has never changed.

BUT THERE IS REASSURANCE IN THE STORY!

If you have persistently and lovingly tried to give children wisdom
and they haven't taken it,
don't be hard on yourself.

If God had trouble raising children,
what makes you think it would be
a piece of cake for you?
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT !

1. You spend the first two years of their life teaching them to walk and talk. Then you spend the next sixteen telling them to sit down and shut up.

2. Grandchildren are God's reward for not killing your own children.

3. Mothers of teens now know why some animals eat their young.

4. Children seldom misquote you.
In fact, they usually repeat word for word what you shouldn't have said.

5. The main purpose of holding children's parties is to remind yourself that there are children more awful than your own.

6. We childproofed our homes, but they are still getting in.

ADVICE FOR THE DAY:

Be nice to your kids.
They will choose your
nursing home one day.
AND FIN ALLY:
IF YOU HAVE A LOT OF TENSION
AND YOU GET A HEADACHE,
DO WHAT IT SAYS
ON THE ASPIRIN BOTTLE:

"TAKE TWO ASPIRIN"
AND "KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN"!!!!!
